We went for dinner with a party of 4 adults and 3 kids. The kids plates are a good deal – a soft taco with rice and beans.
The service was fine after it started. We sat down about 15 minutes before a server came and said she was just helping us until our server was ready. Because it was their fault we missed happy hour (2-5) she gave us the discount on our margaritas.
In general the food was fast and fresh. But my husband said his buggies were terrible – precooked and possibly kept warm too long. He loves peppers and onions but he wouldn’t eat these.
I got the molcahete, he got the chimichurri. My son got carnitas. All the proteins were good. Rice and beans just ok.
All in all a more than acceptable meal. Decor is really fun and funky.

Our first time at Margarita Island in Ormond Beach was way better than we expected. The moment we walked in, the place had that perfect mix of beach‑town energy and laid‑back Florida charm. The music was good, the crowd was fun, and the whole atmosphere just made you want to stay awhile.
The drinks were excellent strong enough to feel like a real cocktail, but smooth and balanced so you could actually enjoy the flavor. The tequila is everywhere. If you can think about it they probably have it. You can tell they take pride in what they pour. The bar setup is clean, the service is quick, and everything just feels easy and welcoming.
And seriously… ask for Alex. He’s one of those bartenders who makes the whole experience better without even trying. Friendly, attentive, and knows exactly how to mix a drink you’ll actually come back for. You can tell he enjoys what he does, and it shows in the service.
For a first visit, this place made a strong impression. Great atmosphere, great drinks, great people. We’ll definitely be back. ✨

My daughter and I were excited to eat at this beachside mexican restaurant, but were greatly disappointed when we left. It is beautiful inside and we were quickly seated- but things went downhill after that. Chips and salsa were okay- but not great. Our waiter was ok. My daughter ordered birria tacos, they came with beans and rice. I’ve had birria tacos many times before and these were not authentic at all nor did they taste good. I ordered Chihuahua tacos. They were absolutely the worst tacos I’ve have ever had. Soooo greasy and had an awful taste, I only ate 2 bites, and couldn’t eat another bite, it made me sick. We complained to the manager who stated there was nothing he could do about it. When I told him the food was making me sick, he said there was nothing wrong with the food and that he would not refund us based on our taste preference. Definitely not exceptable behavior from a manager. We will never, ever be back, and would def not recommend anyone else going there.

This was a great place to eat our first night in town! You can literally walk over to the beach right across the street after! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful ambiance. Service was knock out and our drinks were never empty. Food was out very quickly and was quite delicious. Portion sizes left us with enough to take back as a second meal as well. You are paying for quality upscale Mexican so some might consider this pricey but it is definitely worth it! The margaritas were absolutely on point and were phenomenal. We also quite enjoyed their salsa and chips, there was just a freshness to the salsa you can really taste. It also had a pleasant kick to it that added to overall flavor as well. Overall great experience highly recommend!

Margarita Island has been nothing short of excellent every time we have visited.
From the greeting when arriving to the level of service we’ve recieved on each visit.
The restaurant is new, clean and decorated tastefully.
Service has been outstanding. The Gonzalez family certainly knows how to run a restaurant.
On this visit Christopher was our server and Chris did a fantastic job. He made us feel welcome and like family.
When I looked around at others having dinner everyone was enjoying their food and their visit.
Their menu is large with plenty of variety for everyone.
The margaritas were very good as was the food on this visit as it was on prior visits.
Margarita Island is now our favorite for Mexican food.

We had such a great time at Margarita island! The atmosphere was lively and fun, and the margaritas were absolutely amazing—definitely some of the best we’ve had. The food was delicious, and everything came out quickly.
Our bartender, Derek, really made the experience even better. Derek was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. From great recommendations to keeping our drinks full, Derek truly went above and beyond.

We were very pleasantly surprised. Thought it would be a run of the Mexican restaurant. At first, we thought prices were a bit high. However, once the food arrived, we understood knew why. Delicious, full of fresh vegetables and more than ample portions! Our server, Chris, was very attentive and helpful.
