We had breakfast at Mareva 1939 in the National Hotel, which is usually known as a Spanish fine-dining restaurant but also serves breakfast — and you don’t need to be a hotel guest to dine here.
The setting itself is beautiful and very artistic, with outdoor seating facing the hotel pool, making the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable.
We ordered Steak & Eggs and Two Eggs Any Style. The steak deserves a special mention — it was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly, definitely a highlight of the meal and highly recommended. We also had coffee, which comes with complimentary refills, a nice bonus.
Service was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Overall, it was a very pleasant breakfast experience that I would happily return for.
Our server whose name is Zacharias was definitely the highlight of our experience. Not only was he exceptional at explaining everything on the menu. He also gave us chocolate covered strawberries to end the night without even knowing that it was our anniversary!
Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that has never been!
Belive it or not, I didn’t plan on dining. But since I was nearby, I decided too. Hostess asked if its outdoor or indoor dining. I went for indoor, met Catayelna (apologies if I got her name wrong) she helped me with dining options. I picked the Braised Short Ribs, let me say presentation wise, looked good. Ribs cooked perfectly, nice touch on mushrooms & mustard seeds. However don’t use too much broth. It nearly drowned the boniato puree’s flavor. I wished more puree was served. During service as I ate my entrée. I was asked 3 times ( 2 servers & a slim bald gentleman) how was the dish. I didn’t want to give my final verdict just yet. In the end I had to politely say “Can I have some space.” I get, we all have to do our duty. Therefore please coordinate carefully. For dessert, it was Burnt Basque Cheesecake with rich blackberry hibiscus compote. Let me say it was the Best Burnt Basque Cheesecake ever (Catayelna told me desserts are made in-house ) enough to make all Spaniards & the legendary El Cid proud . Visit dedicated to my then German American ex girlfriend who looks Lagertha from a vikings tv show. To my surprise she spoke fluently in Castilian Spanish. Therefore cue in the song “Vívime”
by Laura Pausini and song “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?” by Bryan Adams (Classic Version)
The food was phenomenal, each bite thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. We shared the paella, which was perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor—an absolute standout. To end the evening, we indulged in espresso cocktails, which were rich, smooth, and the perfect finishing touch.
The service was truly top-tier—attentive, professional, and warm without being overbearing. It’s rare to find that level of hospitality paired with such incredible food.
By far one of my favorite dining experiences to date. If you’re looking for a memorable night out, this place will not disappoint.
