Restaurant is located in Boston’s North End, which has very little to no parking. The entrance is down an alleyway staff is remarkable. Seating is comfortable. Fire pit is recommended for drinks only as it is difficult to eat in front of the fire. Food is very small portions, but extremely flavorful and tasty. Portions are tapas sized. Drinks are amazingly crafted.

The gnocchi fra diavolo was fabulous. The gnocchi was some of the best I ever had. Thought the portion of seafood that came with it was lacking. Wild Boar Pappardelle was an extremely small portion. For the money you are paying. Some portions are small. The food itself was fabulous. The service is the best you can get anywhere. Fabiano is the reason that place is a must. Such a great host. Bon Appetito!!!

We visited Mare Oyster Bar last night and had mixed feelings overall. The vibe out back near the fire pits was definitely a highlight — nice atmosphere and a great spot for drinks. The cocktails were excellent, especially the martinis and the Mare Inferno tequila drink.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the setting. The appetizers were just okay, and the trio crudo was bland and oddly warm. The surf and turf tasted good but was plated in a way that didn’t really make sense. The two pasta dishes (mushroom truffle) were solid but not memorable.

The biggest disappointment was the grilled veal chop. At $62, I expected a generous cut, nicely seared and cooked with care. Instead, it was small, lacked any char, and was overcooked — more boiled than grilled. For the price point, it really missed the mark.

Mare has a nice atmosphere and great drinks, but the food quality and execution didn’t match the experience. We won’t be heading back for dinner.

This place came recommended by a friend for good seafood. We tried the half shellfish tower to start which was so fresh and delicious! Our mains included the swordfish, the surf and turf appetizer, and kids shared the table pasta. The food was amazing, the staff was great and atmosphere was perfect. Definitely recommend this spot.

Absolutely amazing food, oysters were fresh and tasty! Homemade pesto for bread was delicious. Squid ink pasta with clams was out of this world! Interesting cocktail menu, lot of spicy drinks! 100% recommend to anyone for an amazing seafood experience!

I’ve been here several times, food and drinks have always been very good. The seafood is fresh, the other dishes are tasty, wines are good, and they make a great espresso martini . I was very disappointed by the size of the entree portions last time. They are tiny! My pappardelle al cinghiale literally had 4 (four!!) pappardelle. That’s a deliberate ripoff. If the price was proportional to the size I’d be ok with it, but no, it isn’t. I do NOT recommend the entrees, because of their size.

Mare Oyster Bar was an absolute gem during my visit to Boston! My colleagues insisted we try it, and I’m so glad they did. The back patio offers breathtaking views of the city, and the atmosphere is both elegant and cozy. After an unforgettable seafood dinner, we relaxed on soft couches by the firelight with a few glasses of wine—pure perfection. The seafood was fresh and divine, and the desserts were an ideal sweet finish. A must-visit spot for anyone in Boston!

They kept the doors open late, but the quality never dipped. Phenomenal flavors, attentive staff and an ambience that steals the show. Easily a new favorite.

I visited Mare Oyster Bar recently and was let down by one thing. When booking, I noted we were celebrating a birthday and asked for a candle with dessert. I even called the day of to confirm, and they assured me it was noted.

But when the time came, nothing happened. This was the main reason I actually went, and it mattered for the occasion. I left disappointed. Also it was a Wednesday evening and wasn’t that packed. Food was ok

It also made me wonder if being the only people of color there had something to do with the lack of attention. I can’t say for sure, but it crossed my mind.
