…. so sorry again. I forgot again to take the photo of my Mushrooms Lasagna, before starting eating it. Yoy really should ordering it. It is very tasty. But I remember share with you my Tiramisu before I finished it.

Easily the best lasagna I’ve had, and I’m not a huge lasagna guy. Really flavorful and cooked well, and lots of variety and options. The pasta is also great.

It does get really, really busy so it can be hard to get a table and they usually sell out early. Also a little pricey for the portion sizes. Overall though definitely worth checking out.

I’m a huge fan of Italian food—I’ve been to Italy a couple of times and have tried Italian spots all over SF, NYC, and even Korea—but this is still my all-time favorite. I’m a loyal fan of Marcella’s pasta. If you ask for a little bit of spice in the pasta, it’s insanely good.

The vibe is also perfect, especially when the sun’s out: grab some incredible pasta, then head over for a nice coffee at Piccino Café. Hot take, but I actually love their pasta more than the lasagna—the pasta is hands down the best of all time for me.

We recently hosted a party for about 25 people and ordered four trays of lasagna from Marcella’s Lasagneria — two Bolognese, one pesto vegetable, and one eggplant — and wow. People were raving. Forkful after forkful, it was like eating pillows of pure deliciousness.
The eggplant had a subtle little kick that surprised and delighted everyone, and since it’s “homemade” it looked like I’d been cooking for days (I wish I could’ve taken the credit ). Guests kept going back for seconds… and thirds.
Whether you dine in or take it to go, Marcella’s never disappoints. Consistently impressive, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for entertaining. Highly, highly recommend.

The best lasagna in SF! We had the Abruzzo lasagna and Spaghetti alle vongole. The lasagna was very delicious. It had the right doneness outside which made it a bit crusty. My husband says the lasagna reminded him of a perfectly layered croissant or baklava! The spaghetti noodle was perfectly cooked. We will get catering to go when friends visit us!

I traveled half the world, and this is by far the best pasta, lasagna, and tiramisu I’ve ever had. Don’t hesitate to order anything from the menu because you will love it.

we ordered takeout online. One mushroom lasagna and one meat lasagna, and they were both really delicious.

We are both big eaters, but the portion was quite generous; a bit of effort to finish it all

The salads are enormous; one salad enough for two people

Perfect option for a quick delicious meal at a reasonable price

I have wanted to come try this lasagna for awhile so I was happy to not have a wait on a Wednesday afternoon. The lasagna comes with some homemade bread and a light salad.

The lasagna itself has a nice crispy layer on the bottom and amazing layers of cheese and sauce. There’s not really much meat and the lasagna is a little bit one note though a tasty note. I would want a little bit of other flavor, maybe some spice.

All in all, super solid lasagna but is it worth $20 for a square? I don’t know… up to you to decide!

Update July 2025: restaurant has sold and the flavors just aren’t quite the same. My last visit was disappointing so 3.5 stars vs former 5 star review. Kimberly the server is wonderful and I’m so glad she is there. May try again but if it’s average will find a new place to visit while in SF. Hope the old owner opens a restaurant in the Midwest. I’ll be waiting in line!

Update 4/16: bring on the meatballs, bro! Seriously though, please make some. Stopped in today with a coworker and enjoyed fettuccine bolognese and spaghetti con vongole. As usual the hospitality was spot on and food as delicious as ever. Will I ever taste something I don’t enjoy? Doubt it. I’ll be back next month. Meatballs??

Stopped in during a work trip and couldn’t have felt more welcome in this restaurant. As soon as I entered I was greeted and seated at a clean table. Water was provided along with some recommendations. Blankets were also offered as it was a chilly day, nice touch. Truly made me feel like a guest in your home.

I decided on the lasagna (it’s a lasagneria, how could I not?!) Abruzzo was good with a slight kick from the sausage. It was served in a skillet and came with a small soup or salad. I opted for soup which was a tomato/broth based soup with parsley. Also included were bread and house balsamic dressing.

The lasagna was amazing. The pasta is thin so even eating the entire plate I didnt leave feeling heavy or stuffed. Definitely satisfied, but not yet ready to go into a food coma. The marinara was absolutely fantastic and the cheese delicious. I love that they don’t use ricotta here.

I do wish they served meatballs (I’m happy to try the southern Italian style!) and will check back when I visit again in a month. Can’t wait to work my way through your menu!

I ordered trays of lasagna bolognese, Caprese salad, and tiramisu from the catering menu. The order was ready on time and Marcela’s lasagneria provided instructions for baking in my oven later in the day and for final prep of the Caprese salad at my home, with olive oil, salt, pepper, and oregano.
Portions were large, with plenty of leftovers for me and my guests. All the items were delicious.
Highly recommended.
