Right off the bat, these 5 stars are for our order of bossam and mandu soup, plus the nice service. Also, Mapo is open until 1:00 am!
This is a different type of Korean restaurant than I’m used to. There was no long list of tofu soups, and there wasn’t even bibimbap, but there were dishes that I recognized, and the bossam with all its lettuce and vegetables was a perfect fit for what we were in the mood for.
For the bossam, I really enjoyed that the meat was warm. I’ve been to other spots that serve the pork room temperature, and that’s just not my thing. The plate came with a excellent amount of cabbage, lettuce, and hot pork, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Three of us shared this platter but it could easily serve 4 maybe 5 people.
My wife loves mandu soup, so that’s something we try at every new restaurant, and it did not disappoint.
I’m still not sure what type of restaurant this is, but I’m definitely going to come back if I’m in the area.
Mapo is at the back of a pretty plain mini mall, but you should not overlook it. It’s also great that they open late, because it’s hard to find good places that do. I would probably become a regular here if I lived closer. Definitely coming back, and I’ll remember to take photos next time.

Stumbled across this place randomly on google maps and saw it only have 3 reviews (all in Korean) and decided to check out the place with some friends. To my surprise we were welcomed with amazing service & amazing food – the menu is 100% Korean and 20% English so make sure to bring someone who can read or use google translates camera lol – we ordered some soju/beer but the real star of the show was the buddaejiggae. The amount of meat in it was substantial and when we ran out of ramen they gave us another one for free! Loved the vibe here and can’t wait to come back and eat it again!

I had lunch and dinner a few times at this restaurant because it is pretty close my office. Menu is simple and food is good. They also have lunch special on a few items. very cost effective. So you may want to try this one

My friend is a local here and he took us to this place. I went for the tuna combination, it is the #1 item my friend recommended but it wasn’t available the night i visted. If this is the plate you want, perhaps call ahead to check. We had the halibut sashimi instead. They have a slightly different style cut that i have not had before, and the texture are great. the slices are fresh and have a light crunch. It’s better than the once you get from some local market, even though both are live from the tank. It is right by the railroad track, so you can hear the train passing by, but that didn’t bother us at all. The inside is cozy, small, but didn’t feel cramped at all

I don’t understand why the stars is so high. Good for regulars but ignoring new customers. Old lady kept forgetting our order and kept talking with old guys with a lame joke. She didn’t know what she’s done wrong. Also, she had no knowledge of the food she serves. Both my friend and I are working at a restaurant as a server, so we can know better what she did wrong. Good service makes good tips. If the service is good, we are people who tip more than 20 percent, but it was a waste to give it here. I felt sorry for the sushi man.

Maybe was an off night, but the tuna were not defrosted thoroughly. Yes, some Korean places service some sashimi frozen (like hamachi), but this was tuna. Cuts were not clean as well. Fish soup was beyond spicy; great, if that’s your thing. Dunno, maybe we caught them on a bad night

A ghetto themed (for real) restaurant for 40 to 60 year Olds reminiscing about old times..
This pocha – a literal translation for a street food hand cart – has fresh seafood, although a bit over priced it is different. This is where you go to drink soju, and talk trash with your friends in Buena Park.
I don’t recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet dinner as it can be a bit rowdy at times.
