The service was great. Clean Restaurant.
The food was average – it depends on what you get but its about 50/50, and the presentation is not impressive.
You can clearly hear people upstairs walking around.
Went here with my girlfriend and ordered
Maple Madness 9.5/10 ( could have more dumplings)
Full stack pancakes 10/10 ( she loved em )
all in all an amazing place. staff is friendly its nice and tidy. amazing food
The space is gorgeous, no doubt, but it is equally as loud. Not a fan of not being able to use my “inside voice” to have a conversation across a four top table.
Now, for the service… Oof!
You need a dedicated greeter up front!!!! There’s no excuse for a party(3), the only one to enter at that time, to walk in and stand at the front FOR TEN MINUTES, COMPLETELY UNACKNOWLEDGED! Especially when you have multiple open/clean tables. It’s not like the entrance is hidden from the rest of the restaurant. Every server working that morning looked up at some point and saw us standing there, yet not a word. Unfortunately, we watched this happen numerous times to parties who showed up after us. One party of two finally took it upon themselves to grab menus and silverware and take an open table. 15 minutes later, they got up and left. Not once were they acknowledged by anyone in the restaurant. The staff was just completely oblivious.
When we were finally seated we waited another 10 minutes before a server showed up to our table. I had asked my family if they were ready to leave just seconds before a server showed up to our table.
Beyond this point, the service got marginally better but frankly, it couldn’t have gotten much worse. The pace seemed to move a bit more methodically from placing the order to food delivery but we still had to ask for coffee refills, one order had the eggs cooked incorrectly, initially asked for regular half-and-half but was brought only flavored. Just very little attention to detail.
I don’t recall the commercial but years ago there was one with the slogan, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” So true! If your food sucks, but you treated the customer like royalty, most will give you a second try. When customers walk in your establishment and they are completely ignored, there are no second chances.
I wish this business luck in the future. They’re going to need it!
Our server was kind and attentive. I really appreciated how gently she placed the coffee and silverware on the table—one of my biggest pet peeves is when things are slammed on the table, so her care stood out.
The restaurant is tucked on the corner of the new McCord Square Apartments, making it quiet with virtually no traffic (yet). Parking was easy, too. I have a feeling they’ll get busy quickly as word gets out, so enjoy it while it’s still a hidden gem.
