Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant serves northern Mexican inspired fare, made fresh daily. Most recipes are created by founder Manuel Santana and the Santana Family, and most date back to when Manuel’s opened in 1965. With 21 tables it is small, cozy and crowded at times, sometimes there’s a wait. We offer nightly dinner specials and a lunch menu, full bar and take-out available. Friday nights, Manuel’s serves HUACHINANGO A LA JAROCHA (fresh snapper, breaded, pan-seared, and served with a delicious sour cream sauce). It is Amazeballs.
If it’s not Friday night, get the cheese enchiladas instead. They have an incredible onion-flavor and the roasted salsa is really, really good. The strawberry margaritas are also delicious and DANGEROUS. You have been warned!
Service is super friendly. The place is tiny and PACKED so expect to wait. It’s worth it though!

The restaurant was hopping on Saturday night. Without a reservation, we waited about 40 minutes to be seated. It was well worth the wait.
This was our first visit to Manuel’s. The service was excellent. All the staff was friendly and efficient.
This was the best Mexican food we’ve had in years. The rice and beans were seasoned well and absolutely delicious. The chili relleno was light, eggy, fluffy, and so good, almost like a souffle. This set them apart from others we’ve had in the past.
We can’t wait to go back for more. Tomorrow perhaps? 😉

If you are in the Santa Cruz area you need to go to Manuel‘s. It is one of the most iconic Santa Cruz restaurants in the area. It’s been operating for 70 years. It has the best best best Mexican food and service in the area. My favorites are the cheese enchilada, steak, tacos, and posole that it served at lunchtime. The staff are the most amazing people you will ever meet and will greet you like family. It’s extremely clean and the food comes out nice and quick. It’s always busy and you’re in for a treat. My favorite servers are Chuy Adus, and the bartender Raphael. I can’t wait till I can go back again soon. I’ve been going here for years.

Excellent service and atmosphere! Food can use just a little bit more flavor for my taste buds. Other than that, the drinks are also amazing! Great place….parking can be a little bit difficult to find.

This restaurant has been here for 50 years, we were celebrating our friend’s 77th birthday, we made a reservation for a party of 3 on a Thursday night and I’m glad we did, because the place was packed. The service was great, the top shelf Margaritas only $14 were excellent and the Mexican food was delicious, the staff and customers sang Happy Birthday and gave her free ice cream. I would go back and tell our family and friends to check it out.
