Authentic Japanese BBQ with high-quality ingredients. I really like the beef tounge, Kobe beef, and garlic fried rice here.

The food at Manpuku may be decent, but the service we experienced was completely unacceptable. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel unwelcome. One of the waitresses gave us unpleasant looks and treated us with a noticeably cold and unfriendly attitude. It felt more like a burden for them to serve us than a job they chose to do.
Customer service matters—and this kind of treatment ruins the entire experience. I won’t be coming back, and I definitely won’t recommend it to others.

Overall, the flavor and texture of the meat was very good. As Wagyu should, Manpuku’s wagyu melted in my mouth. Personally, the marinade is a little too sweet for me. It gets harder to enjoy the meat in the long-run because of how sweet it is.

My favorite was the sukiyaki wrap. They grill it probably for like 20-30 seconds, drench it in the egg yolk, then roll it up with a little ball of rice in between. Oh, and I was surprised by how delicious the shrimp was.

The food and side dishes had more of a Korean taste to it than a Japanese taste. The beef soup that came out tastes exactly like yukgaejang (spicy korean beef soup). I’m not complaining because I really liked the soup. Tasted clean.

Parking is almost impossible, but if you circle around the back neighborhood area, you can find some metered parking.

Service was good, atmosphere is good, and overall, solid.

Nestled in the vibrant culinary scene of Los Angeles, Manpuku offers a truly authentic Japanese barbecue experience that delights the senses. After a session of much-needed retail therapy at the nearby Beverly Center, my companions and I ventured across the street to indulge in a feast unlike any other.

Upon entering Manpuku, we were greeted with a warm welcome and ushered to our table, where the true adventure began. Each table comes equipped with its own grill, allowing guests to barbecue their own meat to perfection. The selection of meats provided was fresh and flavorful, ensuring that every bite was a delight to the palate.

What truly set Manpuku apart, however, was the impeccable service. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Attentive and welcoming, they guided us through the menu and offered recommendations that elevated the meal to new heights.

In conclusion, Manpuku is a culinary gem in the heart of Los Angeles, offering a unique and unforgettable dining experience for all who visit. Whether you’re craving a taste of authentic Japanese barbecue or simply seeking a delicious meal after a day of shopping, Manpuku delivers on all fronts. So, the next time hunger strikes at the Beverly Center, look no further than Manpuku—where delicious food and warm hospitality await.

Really good food, staff and atmosphere. A bit pricey but great quality.

We did the Kobe Style Beef Course, with a couple add ons. Next time I’d probably do the US Prime course and save a few bucks on the meal. The meat we had was great, but it doesn’t compare to the real Kobe beef you get in Japan (obviously).

Still, really enjoyed this meal. I look forward to coming back.

Japanese BBQ restaurant

We chose the wagyu set menu ($88)

We ordered asahi beer which was large in size

The quality of meats was excellent: king prawns were a good size but scallops were on the small side

Was missing a variety of dipping sauces

Generally meats were a good standard and was enough food for all.

Recommend it

Great Japanese bbq with some Korean touches (kimchi, other small dishes, etc.). Quality is fantastic and the price is reasonable with the sets. Was already impressed with the Prime Beef Tasting, so I would be interested in trying the more premium American Wagyu Tasing next time!

Beautiful place, I’ve been here with my boyfriend a few times during the pandemic. We always order the primer course as it is perfect for two people. It comes with beef mostly, hence the name, but also shrimp, and pork. The flavors of the food and oh my that cabbage salad are amazing. The price is very affordable and environment is very clean. The staff are very welcoming and nice. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

This is a great cozy place to enjoy Japanese barbecue. Considering the area, the cost per person is not a lot when you order one of their bundles. The uni and kobe beef sashimi is a must when you come here. While they limit dining time to 2 hours in the evening, the service is quick and you probably won’t even need to be there that long. Parking might be tricky during busy times but is also available at the adjacent building for a fee.

We got the Kobe Style Wagyu Course and it was a delicious meal! Great quality meats with good sides to accompany. Also got a carafe of sake to share. Service was wonderful, everyone was friendly and smiling. Would definitely recommend this to anyone!
