Really enjoyed the casual relaxed atmosphere here. Manou, the owner was lovely, busy, rushed off his feet so no time for chit chat. This place is a must to come to. We had a very delicious seafood chowder and Snapper on a date salad. Thanks Manou, we will be back when next in New Plymouth.

The loveliest place to sit out on a summer evening. We had fish and seafood specials, served with Greek and Persian salads. The dishes were fairly pricey but so generous that we had two between three of us. Would definitely go back.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience here at Manou’s Restaurant. We did come in on a slow evening. However, presumably Manou, not only seated us and took our order he walked straight back to the kitchen to prepare our dinner.
His cook time was fast and the food was DELICIOUS! I had red snapper on a Persian date salad lined with grapes and orange slices. The fish was cooked wonderfully and the flavors were bold and well pared. My wife had the chicken carbonara which was rich and creamy. 5/5 with our experience and recommend to all who want a small diner feel with fantastic food!

We used to like this place because it’s quirky setout, nice view and nice coffee. However, we felt differently this time when we had our lunch there. My 7yr boy and I ordered big breakfast to share, coffee and fluffy for drink. Coffee and fluffy were great as before, but big breakfast was disappointing. We didn’t get to ask how the eggs we would like. When we realized it, it was too late and our dish just came out. We got poached eggs on supermarket tosted white bread, precooked sussages( deep fried?), hashbrown, mushrooms, half tomato and 2 big pieces pressed ham? (it says bacon on the manu). The volumn of food is good, homemade hashbrown was yummy, pouched eggs were nice. However, for the price of $36.5 big breakfast, I would expect a bit better quality.
I understood time has been difficult to business therefore we want to support our local business. However, we now would need good reasons to go back to the restaurant that we used to enjoy.

First let me say that this place has the most amazing positioning right over the water. Gorgeous.

However the food is unbelievably overpriced… and the lack of decent vegetarian options a joke. The one veg option on the menu is Broccoli and Cheese Balls and are literally a box of deep fried crap you can get from the supermarket slapped on a $3 bed of lettuce. And guess what, I cost over $40!!! Absolutely do not go here if you’re vegetarian and forget it if you’re vegan.

The other 3 meals were also overpriced for what it was.

Also the server barely spoke to us and seemed pretty cranky. Would never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Seriously, get some local fish and chips and sit at the water’s edge, this place sucks.

Beautiful food with amazing portions. I really loved the seafood chowder. Not only that but the place was so colourful and beachy. Loved it 🙂

This is the hidden Gem of New Plymouth. My best seafood iv had in New Zealand thus far. Manou is so friendly and gave great recommendations for what to order. We will be back for more. Do yourself a favor and pop in for a meal.

We found Manou’s by accident and we’ll visit again as they have vegan options

My birthday, I ordered my hubby beef lasagna, I had vegetarian lasagna both around $36 and I expected it to be a full meal, but it was a small square Plus salad of lettuce tomato olive and feta for this price you would expect chips as well.
Although it was a bit well done it tasted okay. But when we paid up my hubby felt we weren’t welcome (or he’d had a busy day and wasn’t up to friendly service) .
I do love the venue, it reminded me of our European holidays. But it’ll be our last visit

This cafe is located right on the side of the water, with a good view of sea and warf. staff were really friendly and the service was quick.

Great location and outlook. Unfortunately maybe because it was a Monday after a busy weekend Hash Browns were off the menu for breakfast. That’s 3 items discounted, so we opted for poached eggs on toast. Good eggs but the cheapest bread you can buy from Woolies. Disappointing for the price.
