My wife and I dined recently at Manny and Isabella’s and we had been looking forward to a really enjoyable meal. However, we came away rather disappointed. The salads we started with were just the most basic variety. My blue cheese dressing was tasty, so I’ll give them credit for serving a good dressing.
But when the entrees came, the vegetable of the day was a lackluster mix of unseasoned green beans mixed with baby carrots. They were cooked together, but there wasn’t anything impressive about them. I had the Boston scrod with a piccata sauce which was so watery that it needed to be drained. Very strange to find the plate swimming with water. The scrod was tasty, but the sauce actually was a flop. The other veggie that came with my entree was a small portion of boiled red potatoes, but they had no seasoning at all. It seemed rather strange that both veggies were served without any kind of seasoning. My wife had a ravioli with meat sauce, which I found to be quite tasty, but she was not impressed with it, partly because it came out with Parmesan cheese all over it and she was not expecting that.

The coconut cream pie for dessert was the one highlight of the meal, so at least it ended on a brighter note.

Service was friendly and attentive, so we give credit for that and appreciated our server.

We think this place could do better if they gave a little more attention to preparation and seasoning of the food. There’s potential for it to be a great restaurant.

We have always loved the food here, especially the fried oysters, but you can’t rely on them being open. Definitely don’t drive from out of town. I drove an hour a few months ago and it was about 1, and they close at 2 pm. They were closed though. I called them and they said it was slow so they closed early. Then, this weekend we were all in town for Thanksgiving and had been talking about how much we wanted to eat there. We went in at 1:50 and they said the kitchen was closed and we had to leave. Most restaurants will serve you if you arrive while they are still open. Just a heads up… Very disappointing service.

Think place is like a restaurant that was made just for you. You will need a reservation to go. They allow you to bring om your own wine which was great. Service was very good and not pushy. Will be coming back

I always try to eat locally when I travel and I wanted Italian last night. This was the closest. Definitely a mom.& pop place and it was busy as soon as they opened. I had the spaghetti with Italian sausage with a fresh, crisp salad. The meat sauce was smooth and tasty, clearly simmered for a long time as it should be. The steamed carrots were fresh and the bread was served with quality butter. Reasonably priced. If they’d had wine I would have had a glass, but since they didn’t, I settled on water. Pleasant and quick service.

Fantastic little family owned and ran restaurant. Excellent selection of daily specials. We had the Veal Parmesan, which was delicious and authentic. My daughter ordered the BLT sandwich and fries, which was also incredibly tasty for such a simple dish. Will definitely be visiting during our next trip to the Crossville area.

The folks who run this restaurant are pros. They have limited hours because they close during the doldrums of the afternoon, but whenever they’re open the parking lot is full! The waitresses do a good job, and the food is great. You can’t go wrong with any of their fish specials. I haven’t tried the Italian classics yet. The sides are nice, and you get to choose which ones you’d like. This restaurant, like others in the area, only serves beer, so no other alcohol. Be sure to make a reservation.
