Visiting the area for the first time and alot of locals told us to stop by for lunch at Mangos. The service was amazing, people are very easy going and friendly. The only thing that could have been improved was if the server who showed us to our table and gestured to the menus could have mentioned that we need to go to the counter to order . But its fine, we figured it out, placed our order and the food was ready quite quickly, especially given how busy it was. It looked good, as did our drinks and if you’re in the mood for a mocktail, I definitely recommend the huntsman spider. The food however wasn’t great, the chicken schnitzel was a touch overcooked making the meat a little dry and the scotch fillet requested medium rare was raw and cold in some places. The staff were amazing at fixing this issue though, so I really have no complaints, its definitely worth checking this and banana bender out if you’re in the area. This place is suitable for all size groups but bookings recommended.

We came by suggestion from friends to listen to live music on a Saturday night. It started out rough, we were sat in the bar area inside but couldn’t get anyone to wait on us so we opted to sit at the inside bar and Angela the bartender didn’t disappoint. She makes a delicious Mai Tai. The cheeseburgers were perfectly cooked and the speed of which the food arrived was fantastic. We moved to the patio seating and were very pleased with our server Miranda. The music was amazing and the vibe was so fun! There is a small dance space and you will see all walks of life, come as you are. I would definitely come back for more live music.

A true Smith Mountain Lake staple with unbeatable vibes!
Mango’s Bar & Grill is everything you want on a relaxing day at Smith Mountain Lake. The mahi tacos were an absolute flavor bomb—perfectly cooked fish with the crunch of jicama slaw, a touch of sweetness from the mango salsa, and just the right bite from the wasabi cream. Every bite was balanced, bold, and incredibly satisfying.
The spacious patio is fantastic, especially with great live music setting the mood. Add in tropical cocktails crafted by some of the most personable and friendly bartenders we’ve met at the lake, and you’ve got a place you’ll want to linger for hours.
As for the “tourist trap” reviews—those are missing the point. Mango’s delivers the relaxed, summertime lake vibe you should be looking for on an easygoing day at Smith Mountain Lake. It’s fun, welcoming, and unapologetically beachy in the best way.
Another huge plus is the plaza itself: plenty of boat docking, shopping, and activities for the whole family, making it easy to spend the entire day there before or after your meal. It’s easy to see why Mango’s has been a mainstay for lunch, dinner, and nightlife at the lake for so long.
Shout-out to management, who was incredibly kind and even took the time to recommend other great spots around the lake. Mango’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s part of the Smith Mountain Lake experience.

This place looks neat and had a lot of upside. Menu looked great and prices reasonable. Waitress was not friendly maybe having bad day or maybe not her thing. I ordered the burger and was not good except for the pickle. Not sure why you would put a fresh mozzarella slice on top of tomato and not have it melted on the burger. This was not an enjoyable experience.

Everything I got was absolutely delicious! The Texas burger with onion petals and chipotle ranch. 2 old fashioned, a shot of house tequila and a dirty banana it was so good everything. The server was nice and quick with it making the experience better! I’ll be back

I don’t usually make reviews but I had to because SML did not disappoint! We are new to the area and decided to stop by mangos. Our group was seated fast, the food tasted like home, and the service was spectacular. Our server Grace recommended a few of her favorite dishes and I must say the Mahi Tacos were delicious. She asked us a question I have never been asked at any other restaurant that really stuck out to us. “Does anyone have any food allergies you would like me to be aware of while handling your food?” While that might seem minor, my wife has an alpha gal allergy and she took it very seriously. We appreciated that. The atmosphere of this place was very friendly. We didn’t get to join trivia because we sat outside but she was quick to ensure us they do it every Friday night. She also recommended another place nearby called copper cattle we will be visiting there next. Overall a nice family place with an arcade upstairs.

For one, it took about 15-20 minutes between each of us to get our food and one of my buddy’s didn’t get his plate until we were almost done eating. His fries were stone cold and the food was… Okay. All of us either ordered medium to medium rare burgers and they came out well to well done. Their menu also says they will come out medium if not requested otherwise. Nothing was close to medium. Not sure that we will be coming back to this restaurant in the future.

Great place to get something to eat when you’re cruising around Smith Mountain Lake. Decent amount of dock parking.
Food was good. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich and really enjoyed it. Get the fries, all for them hot – you won’t be disappointed!
We had fantastic service! Melissa was our server and really made the meal enjoyable.
Look forward to coming back!

Everyone was super friendly and the food was fantastic. The inside wasn’t much cooler than the outside, but that was our only ‘complaint.’ It was an open air type of location, we just didn’t realize. My husband had the signature hamburger with asparagus on the side. I had shrimp tacos and fries with mango salsa. Sooooo yummy.

More of a bar with food. No real water view even though on the water. The fried shrimp was more breading than shrimp.
They have events like trivia and music. Would be fun with a group . But come here for the bar and not the grill part of their name. We saw they had a happy hour from 4-6 and asked the waitress what was on the happy hour- she said I don’t know and never found out. Probably would try another restaurant next time in town.
