We waited about 45 minutes for our food after ordering, and unfortunately the experience didn’t improve from there. The seafood was overcooked, and my wife’s pasta was dry with a broken sauce. Overall, the meal was disappointing and not what we expected.
Maybe we caught them on an off night, but it seemed like other tables were dealing with similar wait times as well. The restaurant feels like it has a loyal group of regulars who value consistency, but for us it didn’t reflect what we’d consider good Italian food.
Would not recommend based on this visit.

We had high hopes coming here since it was highly rated on Facebook VB locals saying it was the best Italian in VB.
As a true Italian- it’s definitely American Italian- NOT authentic as people have claimed. A lot of fried food… a few of our plates were pretty bland.
Service- our waiter was extremely enthusiastic. Although our appetizer plates and cocktails stuck around pretty much for our entire meal- so maybe they only pick up plates at the end of the night…? It wasn’t fun trying to eat our dinner with a crowded table – pic below.
We watched the kitchen (chef) working hard- and our server ran around like a chicken with his head cut off but maintained great demeanor- I wish they both had more help….
We ordered two appetizers – one was mixed up so we ended up with fried zucchini when we ordered the shrimp and a special – the ravioli bruschetta – interesting concepts that were okay- but super fried- obviously we didn’t intend to order the fried zucchini but just the same – the raviolis were fried .
The special of the shrimp parm (again fried – not pan fried) in what tasted like canned tomatoes on pasta- super sweet – tangy – no counter balance with what tasted like cheap fake mozzarella.
The salmon mostarda had absolutely no flavor on the salmon or potatoes and was a bit overcooked- even after requesting just a bit less cooked of MR to their allegedly traditional M- but it came out well done. The risotto was very watery- and not risotto at all- rice in a corn starch soup mix. Pics below. Everything came out beautifully presented.
There is a disclosure “to be patient due to everything being home made” but they didn’t say their server would also be the bartender- bar back- dishwasher- server- bus boy- should we add more unattainable taskers because the restaurant was split with another server but the one bus boy only helped her consistently and we sat without water and drinks for the rest of our time with appetizers waiting even to order so we switched to wine to at least keep good humor as we didn’t get consistent service.
The place itself has an attempt of a modern look- but if you look past the new paint – it’s just an older diner. A manager of the location would do them wonders. As I stand- our 200$+ meal wasn’t worth the price we paid. While it wasn’t the worst place – we have no interest to return to this place… ever.

We celebrated my mother in law’s 75th birthday tonight with a party of eight, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. The service was excellent, attentive without ever making us feel rushed, allowing us to enjoy the evening at our own pace.
The food was absolutely delicious, and everyone loved their meal. It is not easy to please a large group, but they did it flawlessly.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend Mangia Qui to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

Food is prepared fresh to order so the wait is understandable. But the food was disappointing. Soggy fried fish. Standing sauce in the plate. Not palatable. The wine was very good. Deserts were ok. .service was with a smile but not very professional. They were very busy the whole night. .this is not authentic Italian unfortunately

We came here for the first time for dinner. We were quite disappointed. The online menu on their website had completely different prices listed than what the restaurant menu had which is very deceiving. We ordered the lasagna and Alfredo and added scallops. While the scallops were good, the price to add them was $15. Both entrees were disappointing and lacking flavor. The service was great and they were attentive. Unfortunately we will not return.

Mangia Qui is an absolutely AMAZING restaurant! My husband and I searched for literally months to find a rehearsal dinner spot that was clean, pretty, delicious, would let us rent out the whole restaurant, was near VA beach, and perhaps most importantly, would be within my in-law’s budget. We tried or spoke to over 70 restaurants (yes, 70!) and this was the ONLY one that met all of our criteria. We worked with Austin primarily and he was awesome, answering tons of emails and questions for us. The food was amazing—way better than our wedding food, LOL, and the staff was super nice and accommodating. They made a special area for us to set up gifts and goody bags, and their bar/appetizer room worked perfectly in conjunction with the food/main dining room. They also let us set up a projector and we had tons of fun playing games and showing photograph slideshows. Overall, I really can’t recommend Mangia Qui enough. Their prices are fair, their food is delicious, and they are an absolute delight to work with. We can’t wait to return here on our anniversary in the future!

Wonderful Italian food. The chef has been in this area a very long time and prepares all dishes to order. Austin normally waits on us. He remembers us when we come in and that is nice. Atmosphere is fine but if they were to change it up just a little it could go a long way. Pictured is Scallops bruschetta (on special that night) house salad, Caprese salad, Seafood Ala-vodka, and chicken Franchise. Def. Recommend.

This place is THE place for Italian. Don’t be skeptical from street view, this place is worth your time. I had the eggplant parmesan and tiramisu. My husband had the gluten free pizza and the crust was so good, we had to double check with the server to make sure it was gluten free (it was). Everything was a 10/10 and we can’t wait to return!

This was my second time here it never disappoints! This time, my fiancé had the Seafood Alla Vodka, which has jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, tomato vodka cream, parmesan, and fresh fettuccine. Price: $29. I had the Tortellini Alla Vodka, which has ricotta cheese tortellini, tomato vodka cream sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan. Price: $18. Both dishes were amazing, but his was definitely better. Go for the Seafood Alla Vodka every time. You will not be disappointed! 🙂
