This was my family’s first time at the Mandarin Kitchen. It will not be our last. The food was excellent with extremely large portions and the service was fast and attentive. I had the Mongolian Beef and was very impressed. Most restaurants use the same beef as the beef and broccoli, but the beef served in my dish wasn’t covered in corn starch, it was sliced thin, and very tender. I have read a few reviews that mentioned the restaurant changed hands recently and that their food wasn’t up to the earlier standards. I can’t speak to that. What I can say is, give the Mandarin Kitchen a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I am new to town and heard great things about this place. The first time was ok but nothing to rave about. I thought I would give them another try today. Will never be back. The food was very greasy and the grease tasted like it was old and the fryers need to be changed. There are no vegtables in the food. I have never experienced that before with Chinese food. I will never eat there again and will not be recommending it to anyone!!! Very disappointed

Mandarin Kitchen came recommended from a friend who knows I never say no to a dine-in Chinese meal. The service was quick and friendly, the dining room is clean and nicely decorated, and the entrees the three of us had – General T and Sweet & Sour – featured generous portions of chicken and fried rice. Each dish came to our table hot, but all relied on the heavier breading and sauce to provide flavor instead of letting the tender meat be the star of the dish. The food gets four stars for that reason. On my next visit, I’ll try something different and hopefully give Mandarin Kitchen a fifth star.

The food used to be good, but it has changed. This is the 2nd time in the past couple months that the Sweet & Sour Chicken sauce has been different, as if it’s missing an ingredient. It’s the taste of ketchup and vinegar… but separately. It is thinner in consistency, darker in color, and in half the size container. The past 2 times ordering the chicken has also been overcooked and too tough to chew. Like it has been sitting out and re-fried over and over. Highly disappointed with the quality of Sweet & Sour chicken dinner. Please fix this, as I’ve been a customer for over 10 years.

Recently this restaurant was sold to new owners, and I couldn’t be more disappointed.
My family and I have been eating here since the early 90s. Today I had the worst food I’ve ever had at any Chinese restaurant, not even just this one. my fried shrimp, you could taste old oil. It was disgusting. And the shrimp was like shrimp strings or something. So bad. They’ve taken all the vegetables out of all the food, I got shrimp chop Suey and it’s only bean sprouts and shrimp. There’s nothing in the rice but rice.
Just an utter disappointment on my favorite place to eat for 30 years! just can’t even get over it. Don’t waste your money . It is nowhere near the same

This is my first visit to Mandarin Kitchen. I ordered #4 almond chicken combination with wonton soup and egg roll and hot tea. The almond chicken was pretty good topped with brown gravy. Wonton soup and egg roll was nice and hot and (egg roll was) crispy. 4 and 1/2 stars.

Ma and PA in the kitchen full dining room open, our favorite Chinese restaurant Downriver. Classic old school cool for decades, plating up Chinese favorites. We visit once per month so delicious and low prices, lunch till 3pm $10 will fill yo belly with Love ❤. Many superb Chinese dishes you really need to try, here’s a few just Google them for descriptions. Moo Shu Chicken, Balamaki, Singapore Noodles, Cantonese Lo Mein, Sizzling Rice Soup all marvelous . My #1 best ever Hottest Sour Soup you must try a bowl full. Why can’t other Chinese restaurants open the dining room, Ma does a amazing job taking care of all customers by herself. See photos of foods on Yelp Google Instagram. Oh yeah ABD is Almond Boneless Duck only place I know that makes this outstanding delicious .

Do not recommend. Our first and LAST time getting take out there. I ordered the Chicken curry and the chicken was so dry and not much flavor. We also ordered general tso chicken and that was dry until he got down to the bottom and found some sauce to dip in. Our crab ragoon was a bit over cooked as well.

The food tasted like crap. Cheap oilnot peanut oil. From the fried rice, egg rolls (smaller every time we order) and the battered chicken tasted nasty. We use to get orders twice a month. Gia cow and pepper steak were darn good. Go cheap and go broke. We will not return.

I’ve been a long time customer. Around Thanksgiving, I order a usual item for me, shrimp lo mein. I ordered this regularly in the past and it always included broccoli/onions/carrots/bamboo shoots/mushrooms/water chestnuts. This time, all it had in it were a couple carrot slices and onion slivers. Noodles were drier that normal, too. Thought maybe it was an isolated incident. Nope. Ordered it again today and it was the same way. I went to speak with an employee and she was aware of the difference, said those other items could be added, but don’t come in it anymore. Egg roll size seems to have gotten smaller also. Apparently there is a new owner. I won’t be returning.
