I went on a Thursday where early dinner time was pretty empty. But I could tell from the won ton soup it was gonna be good. They even have sui Mai.
The won ton soup was flavorful and they don’t skimp out on scallions either. The meat inside tasted like a soup dumpling to me and the noodles were soft. Each of those small cups were $2 so I recommend getting multiple.
Their fried rice was nice as it had the egg and carrots and peas, all the good things. Wasn’t hard but I wouldn’t say it was fluffy either.
Pan fried dumplings were crispy and good! Their dumpling sauce was also really good and made in-house! I wish that store brand sauce could be as good.
Lo mien was good, noodles kinda tasted like San Antonio, TX’s version but without the grease and oil. Not sure if it was the dumpling sauce but there was a quick slight aftertaste. It was different than the noodles themselves but it didn’t make it unbearable.

Service was great! I was the only one in there at that time but I think they balanced the right amount of checking up and the waiter was really polite, making the whole experience memorable!

Picked up carry out for some guys. The food was pretty good, but just above average, all in all the experience was pleasant. The food was ready for me to pick up. There was no waiting. The ambience of the store is awesome. Makes me feel like I travel back to time when fine Chinese dining was a thing.

Years ago we went to Mandarin House all the time. The food was excellent as was the service. They treated us like family. Then it was sold and it was not very good at all.

We decided to try it again. We were so happy the food quality was great and our server even remembered us. We had triple kung po, general tso chicken and shrimp moo shi ( that they made special for me). The food was flavorful and spicy just how we wanted it. Thank goodness our favorite Chinese place is back to being delicious.

Very reasonable prices and the restaurant was very clean.

I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was very small portions compared to any other Chinese food I have been to. Was very disappointed in the sweet n sour chicken. The chicken had very little sauce on it(which usually other places comes on the side and more than enough). Also my chicken pieces were small and chewy. Rice was unfavorable upgraded to fried rice. My husband was very dissatisfied with his sesame chicken also.

We placed an order for two General Tso chicken platters with shrimp fried rice.
There was a $5 up charge per platter for the shrimp fried rice which we agreed to, because Mandarin House used to be our go-to years ago. Since we were already in Laurel, my mom and I figured we’d treat ourselves to something nostalgic.

I went in, paid, and whew… rude awakening.

The food was nothing like we remembered. The shrimp fried rice was dry, and not worth the extra $10 we paid. The General Tso chicken didn’t come with broccoli or peppers, which is usually a standard part of the dish at most Chinese restaurants. Tasted like sugar balls. Did we order candy??? The egg rolls were hard like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp way too long.

And on top of all that? We didn’t smell anything on the ride home. Not even a whiff. Most Chinese spots fill your car with that delicious aroma this didn’t even register.

My mom called and was told the place has been under new management since 2019.
Yeah… that explains a lot.

$50 wasted in this economy for what used to be a favorite. Sadly, we won’t be back.

Mandarin House WAS the number one Chinese restaurant in Laurel. The General TSO chicken and shrimp fried rice was so bad that I called to ask if they were under new management. The rice was so bland. They had a nerve to charge 5.00 extra. The general tso had no ️ peppers, no broccoli etc.
I was told that they were under new management since 2019. Should have changed the name.
Think twice before you call. Very expensive and we had no problem with that, because the food use to be so good.
Goodbye Mandarin House. We drove 30 min for nothing.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. They have been consistently good over the last 20 years. To top things off, the people who work here are wonderful. Whether you dine in or get takeout, you will not be disappointed!!

First, the portions are generous. The employees are very friendly and helpful explaining any dishes you have questions about. Everything I’ve had so far is very tasty.

Usually pretty good food but the hot and crispy beef was inedible. It was way too salty— tasted like eating a bite of kosher salt. We unfortunately had to throw the whole meal away. I don’t normally leave negative reviews but this was completely inedible.

Good Chinese food and reasonable service. Things marked as spicy on the menu are pretty mild. This evening had hot and sour soup, egg rolls, chicken Phoenix, and fried rice. Dinner comes with tea and fried noodles. Cost was $18. Can ask for all white meat on chicken dishes. Doesn’t seem to have msg in food by default, but always good to request no msg.
