This was, without question, one of the most unexpectedly memorable Chinese food experiences I’ve had.
The General Tso’s chicken was impressively subtle and balanced — a culinary achievement, really, considering the dish is normally known for being overpowering. It had that comforting, reheated-in-the-best-way feel, like leftovers that somehow taste even better the next day. They even served it in the same container it was warmed in, which honestly made it feel cozy and unpretentious — like eating something straight from the kitchen before it even has time to cool down.
The fried rice was… unique. Not your standard heavy, greasy version — more like a time capsule of classic takeout flavors. It felt intentional. Retro, even. The fried beef? Minimalist. Deep-fried breading with just enough beef inside to keep you guessing. Calling it “fried beef” might undersell the artistry. “Breaded air sticks with beef rumors” still applies — but in that avant-garde, less-is-more kind of way.
Food aside, the aesthetics of the place give off strong “no-frills, all-focus-on-the-food” energy. The floors and simple interior lean lived-in rather than flashy, and the cool dining room temperature? Let’s call it invigorating. Like a bus stop in January — but you’re waiting for something worth it.
I went in thinking, “How bad could it be?” and left thinking, “Well… that was definitely an experience.”
Would I recommend it? If you appreciate character, commitment to simplicity, and a dining story you won’t forget — absolutely.
This was, without question, the worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten.
The General Tso’s chicken was impressively bland and dry, a culinary achievement, really, considering the dish is normally known for being flavorful. It tasted like it had been reheated… because it clearly had been reheated. They even served it in the same plastic container it appeared to have been warmed up in, which felt less like dining and more like accidentally eating leftovers from someone else’s fridge.
The fried rice was not edible. I don’t mean “not great” I mean freezer-burn-time-capsule bad. The fried beef was even more confusing: deep-fried breading with the tiniest, almost hilarious amount of beef inside. Calling it “fried beef” feels generous. “Breaded air sticks with beef rumors” might be more accurate.
Food aside, the aesthetics of the place scream, “We gave up.” The floors looked dirty, and there was no heat, so the dining room felt like a bus stop in January. That probably should have been my first sign to turn around, but I made the classic mistake of thinking, “How bad could it be?” Now I know.
DO NOT RECOMMEND.
The Chicken Corn Soup w/ the crispy Wontons and Sweet & Sour Sauce were exceptionally delicious.
I also ordered Chicken in Garlic Sauce from the Lunch Special Menu, and requested it to be a bit spicier. Oh that was yummy, as I loved their house Chili Oil as well.
Their crispy beef, teriyaki chicken, and fish fillet dishes are awesome. The portion is ample.
My picky eater kids love their fried rice.
Many others stated that their sushi is great also, but I’m not fond to any sushi.
My family and I have been ordering for about five years and it’s always fresh, hot and super delicious.
They even make an order for my daughter small chicken low neon no veggies
The restaurant was clean and is spacious. The bathroom was also clean. The one really positive thing that I will say for the food is that our beef dish was very tender, and the sauce had great flavor.
That said, our food took forever! There was only one other table seated who were already eating, and yet our food took an hour! When it finally arrived, our sushi was just sad. There was almost no salmon in our rolls (pictured). The rice was mushy, and we couldn’t tsste the smoked salmon at all. The broccoli in our beef dish was so undercooked that I had to use a knife to cut it. Some of the food that they brought us was not the way we ordered it. Although my husband and I ordered the same meal, his portion size was considerably larger than mine.
Our server was hard to find and did not check in on us more than once and only late in the meal and in an unfriendly manner. We had to go find the manager (or possibly owner?), and he was polite and quick to fix the food.
When we received the bill, we found that we’d been charged for something we did not order. When we tried to talk to the server about it, she basically said we were wrong and then literally turned and walked away without saying anything else. We were not rude, did not raise our voices, and had barely spoken to her the entire meal, because she was never around, and yet she treated us like we were wasted breath. She was on a personal phone call while talking to us, too.
The manager saw us trying to talk to her and came over. He was polite, recognized the mistake on the bill, and fixed it. Even though he was professional, we ultimately left feeling resented and disappointed in our food. We won’t return.
☺ Welcoming when you Enter. When seated, Service can seem brusque, but server warms up and was polite, quick and attentive.
Restaurant is well-kept, tidy & hygienic. Bathroom was also very clean.
