The decor is lovely – from the charming rickshaw to the pretty napkin rings. It can get a bit noisy at times, though that’s more about the crowd than the space itself. The service was wonderful; the staff were genuinely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. A good experience with a few dishes that could use a little more punch.
The service was generally efficient but good. We were a group of 8 and many of appetizers came in pieces of 3s or 6s, but we were advised well to get the right quantities. We were also advised well for the main courses.
The food came out quickly. Over all, taste was OK. it wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t great either. Specially for the Bay Area, where you find excellent Indian food almost everywhere, this was average.
I would certainly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and really don’t want to travel much further for a meal, it really isn’t bad. I will definitely try it again in a few months or a year to see if I like the food more.
My partner and I got Chicken Korma and Racks of Lamb and the portion was good. Besides the beautiful plating, we were also surprised by the perfectly cooked meats and richness in spices of both dishes.
Price is at a higher end but I love how the experience meets the standard of what they charge. Overall, very good restaurant.
The food is great, the waiters are attentative, the atmosphere is nice, and they open late too. Their mains are great, mocktails are quite solid too. Would go again, would recommend.
They do takeout as well, so if you feel intimidated but want the food, that’s a good option too.
We ordered Gobi Manchurian, Malai Kofta, Veggie Tikka Masala, and the Bread Basket. Unfortunately, the Gobi Manchurian was very small and had too much ketchup, which made it taste bad. The Malai Kofta was just okay, even though we asked for it to be spicy, it was still sweet, which was expected. The Veggie Tikka Masala was also on the sweeter side. The curries came with basmati rice, but we realized that there wasn’t enough curry for the amount of rice and bread we ordered. The breads, especially the butter naan, were burnt on the bottom and almost charred.
Overall, our experience was mediocre, especially considering how nice the restaurant looked. I don’t think I would come back or recommend it to anyone based on this experience. I really wanted to like this restaurant because there aren’t many fine dining Indian restaurants with good food.
I would skip the salmon coco curry. PS the avocado chaat only comes with 3 pieces – the server was kind enough to let us know since there were 4 of us dining, so we added an additional.
