Truly excellent. Ingredients were super fresh and the hot sauce is especially fragrant. Obviously the falafel is phenomenal but I also highly recommend the baklava. Perfect way to finish out a scrumptious meal.

Shop is a bit run down, which is fine.

Seating is very limited, probably about 8 chairs in total.

Got a couple pitas — they do NOT have fries so that review prior is wrong.

Pitas were fine. Not too flavorful imo. Just drunk food.

Mamouns is a staple and a must-go whenever I’m in the city. Super friendly, super delicious, super quick. Shawarma is :chef’s kiss: and the falafel is so so good. If you like babaganoush, I really have to say it’s some of the best I’ve ever had ❤️ (cards/Google/Apple pay accepted, but a discount for cash) Cannot wait to stop into macdougal st again 🙂

This place used to be THE spot the whole Indian vegetarian community in New York used to order their falafel from. Like all the time!

There was a nostalgia tied to this place that I could just not shake off. So yesterday, after watching a Broadway musical, I hoped on the subway and went to MacDougall street to get a to-go Hummus pita.

While the taste of the hummus is good, the overall meal was super bland. There was literally just lettuce, a few pieces of cubed tomatoes and a good amount of hummus inside the pita. I wish they had added some hot sauce, some tabouleh, some za’atar to make it flavorful.

So yeah, spent $7 for nostalgia’s sake but really nothing memorable about the food any longer.

One guy. Working today (Friday 12/26/2025). I asked for falafel, but he charged me for a shawarma. I didn’t notice. But I asked again, how many come with one order?. He replied, 3.
After 2 minutes, he served 2 showrma.
If he didn’t understand my word how can he say, 3?.
I had never put 1 star on a review as I am also a worker. But he is a liar and unprofessional. Finally, I told him that maybe I did wrong. He was laughing.
He is a poison for this store. Bad and unprofessional service and dishonesty are visible.
Please take care of this circumstance.

Thank you

They have great falafel. We love coming here. Hummus was decent.

Very small place. Usually folks have To-go orders.

Excellent falafel shop near Washington Square Park with generous servings for the price. Outdoor seating on a classic Village street makes it a great stop for falafel.

Been coming to this location for many years. Absolutely delicious food and the atmosphere brings back great memories. But lately I have noticed things are definitely changing. They got rid of their original homemade lentil soup. They now serve some ready made soup instead. Definitely not the same experience.
Last time I was there, they were all out of shawarma and lamb kebab. They only had falafel, kofta and chicken kebab, at 9pm!
I’ve been to this place hundreds if not thousands of times, never have I seen them be out of any kind of dish.
It’s not the end of the world but when you take a long trip for over an hour to grab some good old shawarma sandwiches just to find out that they’re all out, it’s disappointing.
I have been to some of their other locations but nothing beats an original location. I hope they bring back some of the old experience and continue to keep this place great as it always has been.

Just as good as it was decades ago! I first went in the mid 70’s and falafels were.75 cents it’s still very affordable. The service was excellent and friendly. I received a piece of baklava due to a short delay as I ordered after a big order. Really delicious, wonderful NYC experience.

Said to be the best Falafel in New York and it certainly did not disappoint. I am not too much of a fan of falafel, but this is pretty good. The sauce is a little bit too sour to my taste.
