Dine in a casual setting, while enjoying views of what was once the parade ground of the original Fort Yellowstone. It’s also not uncommon to have front-row views of grazing elk and bison from the windows of the Mammoth Hotel Dining Room. But the food is also something to look forward to, with our value-priced “small plate” options including Bison Sliders, Wild Game Meatballs and Mini Trout Tacos. Breakfast is a la carte or buffet. In winter, wolf watching is immensely popular. If you’re heading out too early for a hot breakfast, we can set you up with a deli breakfast or deli lunch! You can also relive the day’s adventures with your friends in the quaint lounge located immediately adjacent to the dining room host stand.

Pretty good food, tried a bison burger for the first time every and it was good.
The Whitewater Lager was good, the Old Faithful Ale was very good.
The Lemon and Cream shortcake was also very good, probably the best part of the meal. I would definitely get this again if I was to eat here.
The outside was labeled as a cafeteria so I wasn’t expecting the ‘nicer’ dinning once we walked in. Probably from it being dinner time. I did see another closed off section that’s probably open earlier in the day.

EXTERIOR ~ Continuing the same Yellowstone National Park motif, the exterior is a pleasant sophisticated soft pale yellow, with white window panes and accentuated with blue and white striped awnings. The building is elevated for optimal viewing of the parade grounds area.
INTERIOR ~ This consists of an open floor plan seating with tall white squared columns that are accentuated by the drop tiered similar lighting. Seating is well spaced allowing for both privacy and continuity of viewing the whole floor.
Christmas time is always elegantly decorated with tasteful garlands, wreaths and Christmas trees. Interior lighting is more than ample for every dining experience, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Restrooms are located directly through the main vestibule, and are clearly denoted on the right hand side. There are expansive floor to ceiling windows that face out onto the parade grounds area. Often bison and Elk maybe seen roaming freely.
FOOD ~ I have frequented this restaurant on numerous occasions. I have dined in the summer season, the winter season and off season. I have been the last guest of the season more than once. With that being said I’ve only had one meal that was less than par. The Rib eye steak is honestly hit or miss. However the Bison burger, all their salads and soups are always on point. Their juices are about as fresh as you are going to find in Montana/Wyoming areas.
Breakfast, I would suggest the breakfast. I believe it’s reasonably priced their specialty is the smoked trout bagel. Excellent and you always have an option to add an egg if you so choose. The Trout Bagel was very good. The only problem I saw was at the capers were dry capers, wherein I prefer when they have a bite to them being kept in their brine until usage. The trout is a shredded trout which is a different twist.
SERVICE ~ Today, excellent. Mark definitely provides the 5 star/ 5 diamond experience. Which honestly stands out tremendously in a tourist environment. He approaches from the left side serving and cleares all items from the right, maintaines proper posture and never reached across me. He provided seamless service with a well paced flow. Mark was excellent in reading nonverbal cues and had the balance of being attentive while not over bearing.
* Just a gentle reminder to the wait staff and hostess. Minimal congregating and conversation at the hostess stand is paramount when projecting an upscale dining experience.
** please be respectful of this property and others. Be mindful of the wildlife. They are wild do not approach and do not antagonize be respectful, you are a guest in their house.

We ate there early dinner at 18-Sep-25, ~16:30 (when the place opened). My wife and my son are vegans. This place shows all signs of a typical monopoly business. The food is not so tasty, and in small amounts. My son ordered pasta, but couldn’t eat it as it had too much Parmesan cheese. The waitress didn’t want to refund us for that, so we invited the manager, and she said we won’t pay for that. The service isn’t so good, and you wait a long time for the food. Prices are quite high, so the value for the money isn’t good.
We also ate breakfast in the same place, which was much better than the dinner. It’s 20$ per person, self-service. You receive a glass of juice and black coffee or hot chocolate within this price

In winter you need reservations. I ordered the Mac and cheese. It was pretty bad. Was overcooked in that the bread crumbs were charcoal and was the overpowering flavor. The pork topping was very salty and was the consistency of jerky. The Mac and cheese it self could not be tasted and was fairly mushy.

I really enjoyed my lunch at the Mammoth Dining Room. I ordered a cold, smoked salmon BLT, paired with fruit. A cold hard cider was very refreshing after a hike in the park. Danny, my waiter was very attentive and friendly.

Unfortunately didn’t get many pictures, but this was definitely fine wine and dining. The service was impeccable,
The steak was delicious hands down and cooked to a perfect Medium rare !
The only two down sides were that this was definitely high price with low portions. Starting with the loaded potato, it was just so tiny, the steak was a good size, but all this wasn’t filling, I ordered an additional lobster Mac n cheese.
Which was about $30, and pretty bad. Considering the state and where it’s located I understand. The Mac n cheese was good, but the lobster was definitely not even lobster, it tasted and looked just like imitation crab, not fresh and just bleh. Not worth it definitely at the price it’s at. I love seafood and eat it all the time especially down here in Texas, but anywhere I go I tend to try the lobster Mac and cheese so I like to believe my opinion is fair.
The drink of choice was an old fashion which tasted perfect! Just again small compared to what I’ve had in the past.
But definitely a good restaurant to stop by and try out! Plan on coming back in the future to try other items on the menu!

I was with a tour group staying at the Mammouth Hot Spring hotel. We ate both dinner and breakfast here. We had a very nice dinner beating the crowd at around 5 PM. The food was tasty and definitely better quality than what we had at some of our other tour stops. Our server Quincey was excellent. The following morning we had the breakfast buffet which I cannot recommend. The food offerrings were limited and based on the number of people they served it really could have been much better. My personal issue was with the scrambled eggs. Do any buffet’s offer real eggs any more. The egss were clearly something impersonating eggs. I ended up eating rice krispies ☹️
