Mamma’s Kitchen in Paterson, New Jersey is truly one of the BEST Caribbean restaurants I’ve ever eaten at — and I’ve had Caribbean food all around the world, including right in Jamaica. New York has amazing Caribbean cuisine, but Mamma’s Kitchen sits at the top of the list.
I’m a loyal customer, and every single visit is exceptional. My usual order the extra-large stewed chicken, baked macaroni and cheese, and rice and beans is always seasoned perfectly and cooked with real authenticity. The flavor is consistent, rich, and absolutely delicious every time.
The staff deserves a huge thank-you. The cooks, servers, and everyone behind the counter are outstanding professional, warm, and always on point. The food is never an issue; it’s always a blessing.
Thank you, Mamma’s Kitchen. Much success, God bless, and I’ll see you soon.
Easily 10 ,s….
Is this a soul food spot or a Caribbean restaurant….Honestly it’s the best of both worlds.
Mamma’s Kitchen is an absolute gem. The macaroni and cheese, stewed chicken, rice and beans, cabbage, fish—everything is delicious. No misses. Every plate hits.
I usually order the extra large, and let me tell you—it lasts two full days, and somehow the food tastes even better on day two. That’s how you know it’s real cooking.
The staff is outstanding—warm, professional, and welcoming. I always make sure to tip them well because great service deserves recognition.
I’ve eaten at countless Caribbean restaurants—New York alone has thousands. I’ve tried spots all over NYC, Long Island (including a solid one in Amityville), and many others. But this one right here in New Jersey Da Best ,(Sorry Maggie’s you can’t compete).
Mamma’s Kitchen takes the crown. Number one. Top of the line.
Keep doing exactly what you’re doing at Mama’s Kitchen.
Thank God for God. Blessings to everyone there.
I’m not the only one who feels this way. If you take a moment to read through other reviews, you’ll see the same pattern of complaints about rude service and unwelcoming staff. That says a lot about the management. When so many people notice the same thing, it’s clear the issue is being ignored.
It’s really disappointing because this could easily be a top-rated place if the customer service matched the quality of the food. Restaurants depend on repeat customers, and no matter how good the food is, people won’t come back if they’re treated poorly. Rude service doesn’t just ruin someone’s meal — it damages the restaurant’s reputation and drives business away.
Management seriously needs to step up, retrain their staff, and take these complaints seriously. With a better attitude and a little more respect for customers, this could be an amazing place. Until that happens, it’s hard to recommend coming here, no matter how good the food tastes.
This spot serves the most authentic and flavorful ackee and saltfish I’ve ever had. The ackee is buttery, the saltfish perfectly seasoned, and the balance of peppers, onions, and spices is spot on. Paired with boiled dumplings and plantains, it’s a true taste of Jamaica. Highly recommend!
