We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We shared the bruschetta appetizer and both ordered the manicotti special, which was excellent. Although we were too full for dessert, we couldn’t resist taking a cannoli to go, having had it before, we knew it wouldn’t disappoint.

Our waiter, I think his name was
Jonathan was outstanding: attentive, personable, and professional. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it a wonderful choice for a weekday evening.

Made a reservation based on some local feedback (recommended!) and the entire visit was fantastic! The staff was engaging, fresh bread with oil or vinegar was a great courtesy and each of the 6 different plates we received was AMAZING!

Parking was sufficient (in front and also a lot out back), located across the street from the Scranton Antique shops (another fun bonus!). Highly recommend this new business which transferred from Massachusetts.

Just had the most amazing dinner at Mamma Italia and wow — the vibe and food were both next-level! I ordered the chicken piccata and it was SO YUM. Bright, buttery, lemony perfection. The whole experience felt cozy and authentic — can’t wait to go back!

There are restaurants you visit—and then there are restaurants you experience. Mama Italia Ristorante is undeniably the latter.

At the heart of this extraordinary place is Marco Baldieri, a chef whose life story reads like a love letter to Italian cuisine. Marco is not only the chef, but the owner, the soul, and the heartbeat of Mama Italia. Well known throughout the United States for opening and leading highly successful restaurants, he has earned recognition in countless magazines and newspapers—yet here, in the charming town of Woodstock, Connecticut, he has chosen to create something intimate, authentic, and deeply personal.

Walking into Mama Italia feels like stepping off a cobblestone street in Rome. The ambiance is old-school Italian in the most beautiful way—warm, inviting, timeless. The aromas alone transport you straight to Italy, but it’s the feeling that stays with you: the sense of being welcomed into someone’s home rather than seated at a table.

Chef Marco is famously hands-on. You’ll often see him greeting guests, checking on plates, sharing stories, and making every diner feel like family. His presence is genuine, charismatic, and deeply rooted in Italian hospitality. This is a man who doesn’t just cook Italian food—he lives it.

Every dish reflects decades of mastery, passion, and respect for tradition. The flavors are bold yet elegant, comforting yet refined—each bite a reminder of why Italian cuisine is celebrated worldwide. It is not about trends or theatrics here; it is about soul, history, and perfection achieved through simplicity.

Mama Italia is truly a diamond—small, adorable, and priceless. It is the kind of place people talk about long after the meal ends, the kind of restaurant you feel honored to discover. Dining here is not just a pleasure; it is a privilege.

If you ever find yourself in Woodstock, Connecticut, securing a table at Mama Italia is an experience you will treasure. To eat here is to travel to Rome without leaving New England—and to be welcomed by one of the finest Italian chefs this country has ever known. ✨

Amazing new addition to our hometown! All of the staff are kind and attentive, the food is absolutely phenomenal, and the owner even came out to introduce himself and provided a brief history of the plate I chose. Not to mention the pricing is reasonable and the portions are big! Nothing but great things happening at Mamma Italia!

Don’t understand the bad reviews. I have never left hungry and usually have leftovers for lunch the next day, so I have never had a portion sizes issues. I love the alfredo sauce and recommend the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. If you find yourself wanting a little extra after the meal, have some of their tiramisu and coffee after — it’s delicious.
