Social Profile:

OUR MISSIONBorn in El Paraíso, sisters Alda and Reina came to the United States in the early 90s and made Kentucky their home. In 2017, inspired by the love of service and culinary skills of their late mom, Monchita, they opened Mami Monchita’s, a Honduran restaurant in Frankfort, Kentucky. The restaurant’s goal was to bring Honduran cuisine to Frankfort while helping their community of El Paraíso by designating 10% of the profits of the restaurant to the work of the Greenhouses of Love Foundation a 501c3 Charity also founded by Alda and Reina. These donations have helped fund the initial projects and will continue to help further the mission of the foundation.

Absolutely amazing food. After my first visit I knew I would have to come back to try more dishes. Nothing disappointed. Best Flan I’ve ever had.

Staff is very friendly and will welcome you back on each visit. Lovely restaurant atmosphere always had patrons when I visited, yet was never too loud.

This is one of those places you should make a point to visit even if you’re just passing through.

I visited Mami Monchitas with my family back in 2019, and I’m serious when I say I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.
Well, I finally made the trip back in Oct. 2025, and it was just as great as I remembered! Every piece of food/drink was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. My server was kind, cheerful and attentive, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was as mouthwatering as it was 6 years ago! I’m sure I will continue to daydream about this place until I make the trip back again.

The cashier at Rebecca Ruth’s recommended this to us and we are so glad we took her advice! The food was absolutely amazing! If you have never tried Honduran food (like us!) give it a chance. Our waitress made wonderful recommendations that allowed us to try a variety of items. Everything was delicious- flavorful without being overwhelming. The next time we are in Frankfort we will definitely be back!

First time visiting Mami Monchitas. We decided to give this restaurant a try. Nice and cozy restaurant. Waitress was nice, gave menu recommendations, and answered all our questions. Plantains were good. Nice atmosphere.

Mami Monchita is such a hidden gem in Frankfort! The food is absolutely delicious, authentic, and made with so much flavor that you can truly taste the love behind every dish. The portions are generous, the quality is consistent, and everything comes out fresh and hot.

The atmosphere is welcoming and family-oriented, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The staff is warm, friendly, and always willing to explain menu items if you’re trying Honduran cuisine for the first time.

If you’re looking for something different from the usual dining options in Frankfort, this is a must-try spot. Highly recommend the pupusas and baleadas—they’re incredible!

We learned about this place from locals at Glen Creek distillery. My husband and I had only minimal experience with Honduran food. Our server was amazing and answered all of our questions. We had a sampler platter to start and used that to build on what we wanted for the rest of the meal. The food is fresh and delicious. My husband tried a Honduran beer and I had a Maggie Margarita. We would definitely eat here again.

Stopped here on the way through town. It was a great experience! The staff was very friendly and helpful and personable. This is a family owned business with a cool story behind their business. The food was some of the most flavorful I’ve had. I had the chicken carnitas and a coconut limonade. I would highly recommend as someone who regularly eats and enjoys this type of food.

Love this place. Staff are always great. The food is amazing. I don’t know much about Honduran food but there are lots of similarities to other countries I’ve been too.

I’ve tried only a couple items. Pictured is the Pupusas with cheese. They are bomb!! Needed a bit of salt but otherwise on point.

When I say the food is a 10/10… It is definitely exquisite… And the prices are very reasonable and the portions are large and hearty… The atmosphere is nice and its very clean!! The service is beyond excellent… They treat you like more than a customer – they treat you like a friend they’ve known for a while… And dont worry if you dont understand everything on the menu they will explain every thing to you… Just know its a must try… And not to mention 10% of the proceeds go to homes of families in need… So while you are filling your belly you are also helping someone less fortunate… So please go support and enjoy some great Honduran cousine!!
