We went on Valentine’s Day, the place was busy. Unfortunately several tables were reserved and we ended up with a table right next to the entrance door. It wasn’t so bad, I only had to suck in my gut once, so the server could get out the door with her arms full. When our server arrived we ordered our beverages and fried cheese. It took a minute for our teas to arrive but like I said the place was busy. Our drinks arrive and we place our order. We order a small pizza to share, my friend orders a small house salad and chicken parmesan. I order a Greek salad with extra Feta and extra Greek olives. They bring out my friends salad before the fried cheese. I was getting anxious waiting but like I said it’s Valentine’s day. Finally the cheese arrived, it’s presented in triangle shape, lightly breaded, and a nice cheese pull. The sauce, I was pleasantly surprised, really good! However, it was a meat sauce, nice change from the norm, but not, if you don’t eat meat. After we finished the cheese it didn’t take long for the rest of our food to arrive. I liked the presentation on my salad and everything looked fresh. My add ons were included on the side. I kinda of like this because, you can actually see the extras, versus getting lost in with the rest of the salad. I ordered the Greek dressing, house made, not to herbasious, delicious !! I really enjoyed it. We tore into the pizza, here they cut the pie in squares, definitely makes it more shareable. The pizza was really good, we ate it all to include the crust. My friend really liked his chicken, it was served atop a twisted pile of spaghetti, served with toasted bread. My salad also came with toasted bread. We skipped on dessert to full. Also I must mention for the place being as busy as it was our service never suffered. Our server was moving, non stop, and didn’t miss a thing that we needed and what a great attitude. I’m glad we had her as our server because the other girl working the room had this real stern look on her face the whole time. Probably because, like I said ” It was Valentine’s Day!
P.S. Im looking forward to my next visit.

We enjoyed everything about this restaurant. It’s an old house with a beautiful outdoor patio. The atmosphere was great, our waitress was super helpful and always gave us a nod to see if we needed anything. We ordered a bottle of red wine, cauliflower bites with a great hot dipping sauce and pizza. Wine was excellent and food was hot and delicious.

Owner of the restaurant came out from the kitchen to visit with us and other customers.

We will definitely be back to enjoy the outdoor patio, excellent food and family friendly service.

My wife and I started coming here when we first started dating. We’ve spent a lot of date nights and a few birthdays here including my 21st. Mama’s is, to me, the best italian place in the RGV and will always hold a special place in my heart. The alfredo is the best I’ve ever had anywhere and the chipotle pasta is top tier.

First time here. I saw this restaurant featured in the Food for Thought article with a perfect score and decided to give it a try. We were a party of four and ordered the Mama’s Super Deluxe Family Size Pizza, the Mama’s Italian Classic with a side salad, and the French fries as a starter.
We really enjoyed the pizza, the dough and crust were baked perfectly. The lasagna in the Mama’s Italian Classic was tasty. The chicken parmigiana and fettuccine Alfredo were just okay for me, but maybe I need to try a different pasta next time to really get a feel for their pasta dishes.
Our waiter was friendly and gave great suggestions. I didn’t see any cats or cat hair during my visit as stated in another review. I had a good experience and would come back.

At first we thought they were giving away the food because of the attitude of the woman who received us from the cashier.

Afterwards the food is enough, the portions are good.

It was very good. I was hoping to try the lasagna but they were out of both of them. I had the chicken carbonara and it was very good.

The atmosphere was a bit solemn upon walking in, but the patio was absolutely beautiful! It is a seat yourself restaurant and we found a table and it was a little quiet with no music playing, only the voices of other customers talking amongst themselves.

Our server was absolutely pleasant and polite and gave us plenty of time and help with the menu when we needed it.
We started with the fried olives appetizers which were stuffed with cheese and fried and battered in a crispy coat with a side of ranch. They were delicious; perfect little bites and I wish I had more! They were delightfully warm and the ranch was the perfect compliment to them.

My son got the kids spaghetti and it came with two slices of garlic bread, which I had a bite of, and it was absolutely buttery, garlicky and delicious.

Unfortunately the deep dish pizza was a little underwhelming. We settled for the large and we were given the option for up to five toppings; but we decided on only three, the pepperoni, beef, and fresh basil. The toppings were completely covered in a tremendous amount of cheese, which was perfect because I love cheese. I felt that the toppings were minuscule due to the cheese though. It was a let down because we were told it would be a 40 minute wait, which was fine, but the pizza still somehow came out on the colder side? The crust area was warm, but the pizza itself was not hot enough to enjoy thoroughly.

The pizza pie is my favorite, but it’s not as good as I remember, the filling in my last visit was lacking.

The sandwich I ordered was mediocre at best, it needed more to be delicious.

The seafood pasta was pretty delicious.

The server was kinda awkward, we asked for two different checks and insisted to put all in a ticket and at the end he started asking who got what, what a terrible way to do it.

Overall an okay place to try Italian food, but I will give other places a chance.
