The restaurant is clean and has a welcoming atmosphere. The fireplace and hearth add a nice, warm touch. The fresh flowers and bouquets everywhere added that final “home” feeling. Everyone was extremely friendly..
UPDATE: Came for dinner. We both had the specials. Cajun Tilapia sandwich and a Caprese Chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious. Friendly services. They even convinced us to have dessert.
I was warned that Mama’s was overpriced but I didn’t have many other options so I dealt with that possibility. After lifting my salad to-go box I instantly knew that my friends were right. Even for a salad it was so light…the box weighed more than the salad. I opened it to make sure the order was accurate and was instantly disappointed with the size of a $17 salad.
The salad was yummy…I would never take away from that. But for a salad with no major protein (besides a small amount of bacon) it was WAY overpriced. Maybe you get a better portion when you are sitting down at the restaurant but the to-go version was sad. At the very least they should’ve had a ton more lettuce to make it look bigger. All the ingredients were fresh but the portions were paltry. I could barely taste any bacon because there wasn’t much of it. The candied pecans were the only exception…I had plenty of those.
This satisfied my craving for a salad so I am once again grateful for that…but what I received was a $12 salad at best. Next time I will go to the grocery store and make my own. Not worth the price.
Such a fun surprise. We will definitely go again next time we’re passing through!
I ordered a sourdough lemon waffle with blueberry jam and WOW. Took some home and it was still delicious reheated… and the bacon… another WOW. So so perfect!
My husband shared with my oldest daughter a pizza that was to die for.
We live an hour away from the place and I already told my family we NEED to go back again. I want to try everything from the menu.
Oh and I don’t want to forget service. It was great, the sweetest young girl was our server with the biggest smile. The owner checked on us a few time and it just felt like we went to our neighbors house for lunch.
We seriously loved it!
My wife got the margherita pizza and I got the Detroit style 313.
My first pizza didn’t come with any sauce and was obviously dry as a result. They remade it with no issue.
The taste of both pizzas was really good and it’s clear they have quality ingredients, my biggest complaint is one of density and by extension, wetness of both pizzas.
The marg really needed to be crispier but was slightly soggy off the rip, due in part by the globs of mozz being more located towards the center, the thinnest part of the pie. My deep dish suffered from a similar problem, the pepperoni were largely centered towards the middle of the pizza and the cheese was thickest in the center by a large degree. That in conjunction with far too much ricotta and the center felt like I was eating lasagna, too messy for hands.
Overall it is the construction that lets down these pies, and on a different day I could see these being incredible.
We’re glad we stopped by and would try it again on a different day. I’d recommend you come check it out too.
