Dominican sushi is now an obsession of mine thanks to this place!!! It’s so good!! The food is well cooked, menu is easy to understand and presentation speaks for itself. The drinks are well made, good amount of liquor added, and bartenders don’t mind customizing. The food portions are reasonable (I’ve never had leftovers but have always left full). Everything always comes out in a timely fashion and even after months + years, I can’t think of any real complaints! Although, know that this isn’t a spot to have a cutesy, quiet date. Especially depending the time… there will be loud music, hookah smoking and dancing. The vibes are fun, party-like. I recommend calling ahead of time, at least 30-minutes, to reserve a table on literally any day (better safe than sorry). Still, great spot for basically any occasion!

Went to MamaJuana Café at The River, and overall it was a solid experience with that signature Latin energy they’re known for.

The food was good, not amazing, but definitely enjoyable. The standout was the sushi fusion, easy 5 out of 5 especially for a Spanish spot. That alone is worth ordering. The picadera was okay, and the seafood came out well-seasoned and cooked right.

Now the drinks, that’s where they really shine. Very good across the board. If you check their menu, the drink that comes with the prosciutto bottle (around $38) is the star of the show. That one is legit and absolutely worth it.

Skip the pitchers unless you’re just trying to get lit — they’re basic and don’t bring the same flavor or presentation. Their specialty cocktails are where the quality is.

The atmosphere is great, especially if you’re into Latin vibes, music, and that lively weekend kind of spot where the energy stays high and the night moves quick.

If you’re looking for good drinks, strong Latin ambiance, and a couple standout food items, Mama Juana Café at The River is a solid pick. On one final note, the views of NYC from this restaurant are amazing at night

The food was delicious, but the drinks weren’t really on point. My mojito was room temperature, and I had to ask for ice. My friends enjoyed the coconut tree leche, and the flan was good. Our waiter was nice and friendly. The atmosphere was very nice. Valet needs to do better; just cash is an inconvenience.

On Sundays, they offer a brunch menu, which means there isn’t much variety; it includes around 3-4 dishes for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My sister ordered a medium-rare steak but received an overcooked one instead. I ordered pasta with lobster, but it was bland and unappetizing, to the point where I couldn’t eat it.

The atmosphere featured good music, and the table decorations and food presentation were acceptable. However, when it comes to cleanliness, it appeared to be neglected for a long time. Specifically, the walls had spider webs on them.

You need to pay around $10 for parking
The brunch menu was $75.00 dollars per person

So you know how to put the “party” in dinner party? If so, get in the car because this spot is perfect for celebrating dinner groups, with its pumping music, festive staff, and cool drink menu. This is a splurge spot, so don’t go thinking you’ll just get “the salad,” or have a quiet evening with the inlaws. You come to eat, drink, go slightly deaf, and be merry. Wallflowers need not valet.
