This place was exceptional. We went after 10pm with the kids and they gracefully waited us outdoors. It was such a nice environment, reminded me of a Latin Miami vibe. I felt like I was at one of my family gatherings The food was just delicious and the music was great. Everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves, the kind of place you wanna try! Just the food is enough to keep you coming back.

I went for brunch and genuinely enjoyed both the food and the drinks: everything was flavorful, well-presented, and served at just the right pace. The atmosphere was such a standout too. I visited around Halloween, and the décor was absolutely on point: fun, creative, and really added to the whole experience.
I’m already looking forward to going back during the holiday season to see how they transform the place because if it’s anything like their Halloween setup, it’s going to be amazing.
Overall, I highly recommend Mamajuana to anyone looking for a great brunch spot in downtown Houston: delicious food, great vibes, and a super welcoming ambiance.

I was looking for a Latin place to celebrate my birthday but also to enjoy with my family and friends. I found this place, and from the moment I arrived, the service was amazing!! Ruby was our server, and she truly took great care of us, but everyone on the team was awesome and super attentive. René’s drinks were outstanding (I wanted a mezcal margarita, and the strawberry one was delicious!). The food was amazing, the music too everything! We’ll definitely be back!

I wish I could give the service 10 ! This was truly the BEST service I’ve ever received in the Houston area. Devon was incredible—authentic, accommodating, and simply the best.

The food was great too! Don’t sleep on the empanadas or the oxtail croquettes. Both my friend Kayla and I want to give Devon a huge shout-out for making our visit such an amazing EXPERIENCE. Thank you, Devon!

As for my friend Kayla, this is her review:
I had an incredible experience at Mamajuana’s in downtown Houston. The food was amazing, the ambiance was perfect, but Devon is what truly made the night unforgettable. His attitude is phenomenal—warm, upbeat, and genuinely committed to making sure every detail is just right.

He knows the menu inside and out and offered thoughtful recommendations that hit every time. His timing, professionalism, and overall performance were flawless. Devon is, without question, the best waiter I’ve ever had. If you’re dining here, do yourself a favor and ask for him. He turns a great meal into an exceptional experience.

Dajon, our server, was incredibly knowledgeable about every dish that was prepared and presented to us. The dining experience was absolutely delicious. Cuban and Puerto Rican flavors with a modern twist created an exquisite and memorable cuisine.

2nd time here.

1rst time we had the pernil “ Roasted Pork Shoulder “ along with the sancocho. Food was AMAZING! Dominican for sure!

5 months later we’re back visiting Houston. This time we had the …

Chofan = Not authentic, rice wasn’t cooked fully. Still a little hard. The so called Chicharron de pollo , not so much Chicharron lol , also lacked flavor!
Yuca Balls =
Mamafongo = was decent , nothing crazy.
Empanadas = we tasted them all , we all agreed the chicken was best but still at average best.
Coconut Tres Leches =
Churrasco = was decent , nothing crazy.

Drinks & Hookah are amazing!!!
Service & staff , !!! Tip them good!

The food and atmosphere was great. Service not so much. Had to wait 20 minutes to get someone to refill our water. Also asked for pepper and it came with barely anything in it. Outside the service lacking, outstanding and 100% recommend.
Gratuity is automatically included FYI.

Really shocked how good the food was and the vibes were lit on Sunday evening post Valentine’s Day. The themed decor really added to the ambiance. Slow service from the host but will return & highly recommended.

I hosted my birthday party in their private room and honestly, everything was amazing from start to finish. The booking was super easy, the food was delicious, and the space had the perfect vibe — cozy lighting, great music, and plenty of room to enjoy the night. We even had our own private bar, and the service was top-notch the whole time. I had such a great night celebrating with my friends and family. Thank you, Mamajuana Cafe, for making my birthday so special and unforgettable!

The food was okay but it took 30 minutes to come out. Mind you we were 1 out of 2 groups at the restaurant. The lady serving us was ready to check us out which is fine but we we’re enjoying a night out being from out of town. She continued to laugh at our face when when we asked about gratuity because it was labeled as “tax and fees”.

That wasn’t right. So we answer to reached to a Manager and he Agreed with us.

The food was okay. overall I think the establishment needs an overlook at their establishment and how they can help servers reach higher tips.
