I’m already looking forward to going back during the holiday season to see how they transform the place because if it’s anything like their Halloween setup, it’s going to be amazing.
Overall, I highly recommend Mamajuana to anyone looking for a great brunch spot in downtown Houston: delicious food, great vibes, and a super welcoming ambiance.
The food was great too! Don’t sleep on the empanadas or the oxtail croquettes. Both my friend Kayla and I want to give Devon a huge shout-out for making our visit such an amazing EXPERIENCE. Thank you, Devon!
As for my friend Kayla, this is her review:
I had an incredible experience at Mamajuana’s in downtown Houston. The food was amazing, the ambiance was perfect, but Devon is what truly made the night unforgettable. His attitude is phenomenal—warm, upbeat, and genuinely committed to making sure every detail is just right.
He knows the menu inside and out and offered thoughtful recommendations that hit every time. His timing, professionalism, and overall performance were flawless. Devon is, without question, the best waiter I’ve ever had. If you’re dining here, do yourself a favor and ask for him. He turns a great meal into an exceptional experience.
1rst time we had the pernil “ Roasted Pork Shoulder “ along with the sancocho. Food was AMAZING! Dominican for sure!
5 months later we’re back visiting Houston. This time we had the …
Chofan = Not authentic, rice wasn’t cooked fully. Still a little hard. The so called Chicharron de pollo , not so much Chicharron lol , also lacked flavor!
Yuca Balls =
Mamafongo = was decent , nothing crazy.
Empanadas = we tasted them all , we all agreed the chicken was best but still at average best.
Coconut Tres Leches =
Churrasco = was decent , nothing crazy.
Drinks & Hookah are amazing!!!
Service & staff , !!! Tip them good!
Gratuity is automatically included FYI.
That wasn’t right. So we answer to reached to a Manager and he Agreed with us.
The food was okay. overall I think the establishment needs an overlook at their establishment and how they can help servers reach higher tips.
