Loved this little gem on the side of the road. We decided to stop after coming back from Ghost Ranch and were not disappointed. The pizza was fresh and delicious. The crust was thin and crunchy. Mama was also very friendly!

Ooh I am so happy to have finally tried Mamacita’s Pizza! This place is legendary amongst New Mexicans and let me tell you, the pizza did not disappoint! We walked up to the window and met Marta, who runs the place on her own. We ordered the Roadrunner (pepperoni, sausage, green Chile). There’s no restroom, so we had to run down to Bode’s a few miles down the road. She timed it perfectly so we arrived to a fresh pie 🙂 the dough was the star of the show for me – so light and flavorful, thin crust with a good crunch without being too thin or cracker-like. Just the right amount of sauce and nicely browned cheese, fresh and yummy toppings. Very hard not to eat the whole pie at once. I liked Marta’s no-nonsense attitude, and how much pride she clearly takes in her work. There is a cute seating area and two adorable cats. Very much looking forward to coming back to this gorgeous town, and trying some more of her cuisine.
***Correction: we did eat the 14” large pizza between the two of us – no regrets!! ***

We were eager to put Mamacita Pizzeria to the test after seeing so many five-star reviews. But “one of the best pizzas in the nation”? That’s hard to believe. The pizza was decent but far from exceptional, and with no competition within a 15-mile radius, its popularity may simply come from being the only option around. Our Caesar salad was equally average. In short, if you’re looking for a solid (but not inexpensive) pizza, this place will do—but we were disappointed, as the glowing reviews had set our expectations far too high.

I have been getting pizza here for the last 9 years and there is still no better pizza around. Fresh dough made daily! Every bite is full of flavor. The toppings are always fresh and tasty! She also does subs here I have yet to try them. I have had a burger years ago which I remember it being huge. You can call in ahead to order which times quoted are always accurate! Sure the outside area is posted in a way that keeps loiterers out. Sure the customer service could be a tad better. But this Northern New Mexico, I’ve ordered here enough that I can tell you the customer service is amazing. When I was a wild land firefighter she would give me free drinks. Wear a mask it’s courteous, and you might get a little extra love. Every time I’m in El Rito I order from here. Easily I’ve ordered over 20 times maybe up to 50. Cash or “plastic” credit card is accepted.

I’m a 40 year old man from long Island, I lived there for 33 years, worked in a pizza place a couple times, probably eaten 100,000 slices and I can say without a doubt that this was the single worst pizza I have ever seen. And then, when I had the audacity to call and ask “is it usually oval, transparent, burnt, and very very underweight. Or, are you just having an off day?” I got screamed at for the next five minutes. Grandma tried to gaslight me, telling me every pizza is unique, like a snowflake . Lol . I agreed with her, and told her this one was bad snowflake, and I’d bring it back to show her . Tomorrow she says, because she’s out of food. . Ok, so we show up tomorrow, and she’s screaming before she ever comes outside, doesn’t wanna talk to me, only my girlfriend, because “she placed the order, she’s my customer” I’m sure she knew I’d have told her that she tried making a large pizza with a small dough, overstretched it, then sold it anyway. Simple. But she wasn’t gonna say sorry, or oops, and just make another pie. No, she wanted to rob my girlfriend.. So, she walks over, and immediately the irate pizza grandma flips open the box, grabs a slice, and calls us liars. Says the pizza “isn’t see-thru” when we’re literally looking thru it like it’s stained glass . The woman is delusional . Then, she accuses us of eating half the pizza. We are 2 slices out of the 12. Mind you, idk why she cut it into 12, this isn’t a 2nd grade birthday party, but anyway, I digress. 10/12 is in no way half. And, I’m not sure how she expected us to know for sure it was crap just by looking at it. We each ate a slice, shouldn’t be an issue . Well, she throws $12 at my girlfriend as a refund for the $22 pizza, and slams the door in our faces . Well, after my girlfriend banged on the door, she threw another $3 at her and told us we were trespassing …. Gaslighting pizza granny stole $7 from us .. The police said she does this all the time and there was nothing they could do .. Ohh, and the salad had black lettuce in there, completely wilted. I’m surprised it didn’t mold.

I stopped by after a very long road trip. It was delicious and the woman was very nice to both me and my dog! I got a jumbo pepperoni pizza and was very pleased with the thin crispy crust and the cheese/sauce ratio. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again. Thanks Mamacitas!

Mamacita’s Pizza is truly exceptional.
Her crust stands out—thin, crispy, and delightfully bubbly. She uses high-quality ingredients generously piled on top, ensuring every bite bursts with flavor. We tried a veggie pizza with sausage, and it was absolutely perfect. You can order pizza and subs to go, or enjoy your meal in the charming outdoor covered area, complete with picnic style tables.

Best pizza…Ever! And we’ve sampled our fair share. The crust is perfect and crisp on the bottom. The sauce is definitely home-made, the ingredients are fresh…and it was well worth the road trip. We even ordered a second pizza to take home. Highly recommended

The pizza was outstanding, I mean it. The pepperoni and spicy sausage pizzas were as good as I’ve had in a long time. The this crust is perfect as well. The owner / chef has a great story and cares so much about her craft. I highly recommend trying Mammacita’s, it’s worth the time and effort to get there.
Get there early if you can! It’s a popular spot and she’s liable to run out of dough (handmade every day) if you wait too long.
