My wife and I were tooling around Danville when we decided it was time for lunch. A quick Google search resulted in us deciding on Mama Possums. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Tator Tots and my wife chose Chili Dogs and Onion Rings. Our food arrived in a timely fashion and was delicious. Mama Possums is an old time style burger joint. The food is basic but delicious, the staff friendly and helpful and the prices reasonable. Highly recommended!

I waited almost 30 minutes for my food, which was extremely plain with no seasoning— not even salt or pepper. It was worse than hospital food. The ready-made burgers tasted like the restaurant smells, which was not pleasant. The place seemed in need of a deep cleaning; it had an old and stale odor, and I believe it might require a visit from a local health inspector. There was nothing here that appeared to be handmade or freshly prepared on a daily basis—everything felt impersonal and lacking a personal touch.

AMAZING LITTLE RESTAURANT WITH WONDERFUL FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, AND NICE ATMOSPHERE!!! This is a FIRST visit to this little hidden gem, but definitely WON’T be our last!!! We’re from just over the line in North Carolina, but often shop in Danville and this restaurant is a bit of a drive away from ALL of the major shopping areas in the city, but DEFINITELY worth the drive!! I swear the CRISPY HOMEMADE ONION RINGS alone are worth the drive!! They greet you from the time you walk in the door, which is really welcoming! Their food is DELICIOUS and VERY reasonably priced!! It’s decorated with various metal license plates and signs!! The food service workers are lined up and working with their own little system which makes their service VERY QUICK from order to serving, which is fascinating to watch! They have a nice VARIETY of food which you can see by the menu in my pictures! They even have soft serve ice cream & homemade milkshakes! If you’re in or around the Danville, Virginia area and looking for a great eatery, do yourself a favor and try Mama Possums!!!❤️ YOU’RE WELCOME!!!

This is a must stop when traveling to VIR for us! Staff is friendly and I think it’s only fair to be respectful when they are busy. I see the negative reviews and wonder if they made the staff aware? I’m sure they would fix it as they care about each guest.

This place has some of the best cheeseburgers and hotdogs along with bbq. Im sure there’s other good things but im stuck on them 3 items lol. Crinkle cut fries are good too but if you like your fries with a crisp like me then make sure you tell them extra crispy because they come a little on the soft side at regular order. Milkshakes are also good and im more vanilla but my wife likes the pumpkin shake. This place does get packed at times but it’s worth it if you can get a seat.

Got chicken sandwich. It was frozen processed patty. They fish fillet is the same way. It was great service and atmosphere but the food was about like going to Burger King. The news said this place was amazing and had home cooked food. I never saw and home cooked food there. A little over priced for processed food.

I love this place! We split the 2 hot dog with fries and a drink and it’s just $6.99! And the dogs were delicious! I got a chili, cheese, & slaw on mine. So good. Afterwards we each got a small cone, which is huge for just over $2 each I think. The whole bill for two was $12.10. Now that’s a bargain! The place was packed inside and so was the drive thru.
