When I say this place was excellent, I mean it was truly excellent. The food was fresh, wow. authentic, and executed at a level that genuinely rivals restaurants in Italy itself and top Italian spots in New York City. Everything we had was spot on, from the quality of the ingredients to the balance of flavors.
Service was just as impressive. The host made us feel like family, not customers. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. That alone sets this place apart.
The location is somewhat remote compared to downtown Philipsburg, but that’s part of the charm. During the day, the views are stunning. At night, it feels like you’re dining in the hills of Italy. The restaurant is fully outdoors under a massive canopy, which adds to the atmosphere and makes the entire experience feel relaxed and special.
If you’re staying anywhere nearby, especially at the JW Marriott, this place is an absolute must. Easily one of the highlights of our trip.
The pizzas are really good. We have both dined in and brought back pizzas to our terrace, both great options. The dough is very nice, and the toppings leave little to be desired. They do proclaim it to be Neapolitan style but I find that a bit inaccurate if you’re really pedantic, it’s a bit too crispy and with too little crust, but it’s a lovely pizza nevertheless.
I’ve stumbled on that restaurant on a subreddit and thought it might be worth checking it out. We went there without a reservation (2 people) and it took about 10 minutes to be seated. The drinks are great too, with good amounts of alcohol in them.
The pizza is everything you would want it to be : it’s got carriage, good cheese pull and with one bite, it hits the spot. It was so good we even took a couple of pizzas as takeaway.
There’s about 50-60 people and only 2 servers, so kindness and compassion are key in understanding that only 2 people are taking care of so many people at the highest tourist influx period.
I can’t wait to go back and try everything on the menu!
The pizzas are excellent, lasagna and eggplant parm are superb and I loved my escargot appetizer.
Great work to the team at Mama Pizza
