The great service at Mama Pho Grand Street enhanced the amazing dining experience. The staff was incredibly fast and polite, making sure our needs were met without being intrusive. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and well-cared for, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable meal.
The ambiance perfectly complements the delicious food and excellent service. It’s a quiet and casual spot, making it ideal for a relaxed meal with friends or a low-key date night. The understated decor allows the food to shine, and the comfortable atmosphere encourages lingering over a hot bowl of pho. They’re also open 24/7, which makes it the perfect place for a late-night bite.
We paid and left, and I soon developed food-poisoning-like symptoms. We used to enjoy this restaurant, but after this and prior similar incidents, food safety concerns remain. Food safety cannot be compromised.
*****You also stated one dish was an empty pho and the other beef pho. That is incorrect — the second dish was dumplings.
Recent reviews here show repeated food safety and quality concerns (improper temperature, raw meat, contamination, and sanitation issues) along with dismissive responses to customers. Unfortunately, this experience reflects that same pattern.
What’s most concerning is the lack of acknowledgement. Dismissing the problem. REVIEWS are meant to help improve the experience of your customers , is an opportunity for you restaurant owner to do better and for customers to be aware of incidents such as safety concerns. I did not decided to come to your restaurant to get a free meal or take the time out of my day to write a bad review. .. It seems you do not value your customers or their safetyconcerns. What of waste of my money, time and wellbeing.
I paid and left without eating. I still tipped the server for her service, which was fine, but the food itself needs serious improvement.
If you’re serving pho, the broth must be hot enough to safely cook the meat. Otherwise, this becomes a food safety issue. People can get sick from undercooked meat, and that’s a real concern.
Use a hotter broth, more liquid, or adjust the meat portions—but this current method is not acceptable.
Do better.
Edit: went the second time at night. the worker was very passive aggressive. I asked for wooden chopsticks when the food came and she forgot. that’s okay, i went to ask for 2 chopsticks, one singular chopstick flew out on my way back. granted, I should’ve been careful but I went back to ask for another one and she looks at me , hands me the UNNECESSARY amount of chopsticks as if I inconvenienced her whole life.
This place might be okay if you’ve never had good Viet food. We waited an hour for pho dining in which is ridiculous. When the pho finally came out, the ribeye on top was still raw which isn’t too unusual, but the broth was not warm enough to have any kind of impact on cooking the meat. The raw meat pictured had already been drowning in the broth for a few minutes. Strangely, the brisket in the Mama Pho was well done to the point of being tough so I don’t know what happened there. They said they were understaffed but only let us know after we had asked for an update more than once like 30 minutes into waiting for our food.
The only positive part was the broth being just okay. I honestly am not one to care this much about service, but you can’t have substandard food and bad service, pick a struggle!
