A little disappointing. I had high expectations as this place looked pretty authentic. Service was ok and food came out quickly.
I ordered the chicken Bulgogi and whilst it was moist and hot it lacked any real flavor except table salt.
I think the best thing was the spicy cucumber. Which was delicious.
The accompanying rice was cold and gelatinous.
Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.
I will try dining here again as it is in a super convenient location.

Not one to leave reviews or return food, but for $40+ this is ridiculous. Ordered steak, Shrimp and chicken dinner combo through Uber Eats. The “fried rice” was white rice which for hibachi is ridiculous unless I specified I want white rice. I also requested RARE for steak, the steak came burnt and well done. NOT EVEN CLOSE. I get times are hard and prices are expensive, but paying $40+, I would expect some sort of care to their quality of food. We have been going here for years and I’m fine with charging more. What I’m not okay with is the quality dipping, portions getting smaller AND prices getting higher. Triple dipping isn’t a way to run a long term local business. Truly disappointing how this gem became a dump. I suggest spending your money elsewhere for value.

The food is good and reasonably priced. There was a small mix up with one of the appetizers we ordered but it was quickly rectified and all the food took less than 15 minutes to come out
Food ordered: miso soup, Green Onion Pancake, Beef Bul-Go-Gi, chicken Bul-Go-Gi

The food is amazing … some of the best kimchi and ramen we have had for a while.highly recommend the noodles and beef bibimpap.
The place just needs a little bit of make over and tidying up.

Looks can be deceiving! This place from the outside didn’t look too inviting, but the menu sounded good so we have it a try! The inside could use some sprucing up, but the service and food were good!
We ordered the meat dumplings (absolutely delicious!) and the filet and mushroom rice bowls! The bowls were good, but man were they salty! If it wasn’t for the over saltiness , they would have been phenomenal!
The staff were kind, the service was fast! I do recommend, but it is salty!
I forgot to get a picture of the dumplings, but they were so good!

I’ve lived Downtown for 7 years and I had never been to Mama Kim’s, so I was looking forward to it because I had heard so many great things about their food. I got the Steak & mushroom hibachi plate to go. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, and the steak was cooked WELL DONE. They cut the meat, and mushrooms into very small pieces (way too small) so it cooked too fast. I’d suggest they keep the meat and mushrooms in larger pieces so it stays more juicy and tender, and the mushrooms don’t shrivel down to nothing. The flavor of everything was good, and the special white sauce I’d heard about gives everything a good unique taste, but for $20 I would never go back here to eat again sadly.

The food here is so yummy! The cashier (young lady with dreads) was so good at giving recommendations that worked around my gluten allergy! The staff is nice and the food comes out quick but is still amazing quality. It is a bit expensive and the restaurant itself isn’t the most lavish looking but it’s a great spot to grab something quick downtown

This is place is amazing! This was my first time eating with their establishment. I have actually never eaten at an establishment like this. I can’t say enough kindness that on a busy Saturday after Christmas that their staff showed. I should have gotten names to include in the review but the gentleman the rang us up was amazing be patient while we ordered and offering suggestions and feedback on our choices. The gentleman that came out and helped us clear the table was also super kind. But to acknowledge that there was not a bad vibe from one staff behind the counter. That alone would have me return. Don’t ask me what I ended up ordering (because I just went with the suggestions) but it was super yummy. The chicken and the sides. The vibe while sitting and eating was amazing as well. I don’t live in the city but I make a trip for some lunch again soon. Highly recommend. Thank you for great service and food!

Hidden gem in downtown Charleston! We all got the hibachi plates, so flavorful and delicious. Definitely a hole in the wall dive. They have tables, but the ambience isn’t anything fancy. However, that adds to the charm. Probably a great place to get takeout, lots of people were picking up orders. The plate came with teriyaki chicken, fried rice, and onions and zucchini. The chicken was chopped up super small and the sauce was just the right amount of sweet. They produce yum yum sauce for no extra cost. The plate was about $18, which I think was a fair price. Would 10/10 recommend if you’re craving hibachi!
