I went to this place for lunch with my brother last week. The food was delicious and the service was great. It’s a small unamusing place that serves amazing Haitian food. Their jerk chicken is spectacular. I’ll definitely go back to try out there pastries they had.

Stumbled upon this quaint hole in the wall and had one of the best lunches I’ve had in a long time. Jerk chicken was well spiced, perfectly cooked and not too spicy (but there was a bottle of spicy vinegar? on the table that made the chicken and everything pop)! The veggie meat dish was unique and super flavorful and the meat fell off the bone. The plantains are the best I’ve had in a long long time. And the rice and beans were rich in all the right ways. Thank you and I will be back!!!

Mama Josie was delicious. Of our group of 5 we had white rice, black rice, mac & cheese, jerk chicken, goat, turkey, plantains, pumpkin soup, fruit salad, chocolate cake, cheese cake, and fruit champagne. We would recommend all of these options. The staff was very kind. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. We appreciated their suggestions on what to try based on food sensitivities. We loved being able to sample the pumpkin soup before we bought it. The meal was very reasonably priced for what it was, because the portion was filling. We were really excited to meet Manny and we will be back! Thank you!!

In the heart of Aurora, Colorado get ready for friendly faces, lots of Haitian baked good and good food. I can’t believe they even had KOKIYOL. I felt like a big kid all over again. The place is spacious and you can even have a birthday party in there. They have Haitian cakes too

This takeout meal from a new Haitian restaurant unfortunately falls short of expectations. The dish consists of jerk chicken legs served with white rice and what appears to be black rice with nuts or beans.
Food Quality
The jerk chicken legs show decent caramelization on the outside, but the cold temperature significantly diminishes the eating experience. The temperature issue particularly affects the texture of the chicken skin, which likely lost its intended crispiness during delivery. The bland seasoning is particularly disappointing, as Haitian cuisine is known for its bold, vibrant flavors and aromatic spices.
Presentation & Portions
The meal comes in a standard black plastic divided container. The portion size appears reasonable, with two substantial chicken legs and generous servings of both white rice and what seems to be black rice or beans. However, the presentation is basic and utilitarian, typical of delivery packaging.
Value Assessment
While the pricing is average for a rice and chicken combo, the combination of bland flavors, cold delivery, and unremarkable execution makes it difficult to justify the cost. A proper Haitian meal should offer a more exciting and flavorful experience.

Mezanmi! I am overjoyed that Mama Josie’s has opened! I am originally from South Florida and have lived in Colorado for almost 3 years, greatly missing Haitian food and culture. The food, atmosphere and service are all incredible. The food tastes just like my family’s cooking and my heart is so so happy. Thank you Mama Josie and Manny! I can’t wait to come back!!

I’m going to get straight to it. We found Mama Josie on TikTok and wanted to see what all the hype was about.
I ordered the turkey, plantain, and rice & peas.
The turkey was very dry and hard to chew.
The plantains were also dry and tough—I couldn’t even eat the bite I had.
The rice & peas were the only thing that tasted good.
My brother spent $30 on a plate of fried goat and a beef patty. He said the patty was chewy and doughy.
We ended up discarding our food and ordering sandwiches on DoorDash instead.
I really had high hopes as a fellow Caribbeaner, but unfortunately, this was a big disappointment.
