Absolutely blown away by this place. My boyfriend and I were so happy to stumble upon this gem just minutes from his town. The space is incredibly cozy, and from the moment we walked in, the energy was warm and welcoming.
We were greeted by Jenny, who was an absolute delight and kindly answered all of our menu questions. It was my first time ever trying ramyun, and wow — it did not disappoint. I ordered the vegetarian version, which had the perfect kick of spice and so much flavor. Babe went with the bulgogi bento box and added a side of truffle fries, and every single bite rocked our socks.
We left feeling genuinely happy — amazing food, above-and-beyond customer service, and such a beautiful family-owned atmosphere. Truly top-tier. Huge compliments to the chef We’re so grateful for the experience and can’t wait to come back.

Update: I’ve started ordering here a minimum of 3 times a week since discovering the place. Go-to order is spicy pork kimbap, I bring it with me to work the next day and it still tastes good cold! Cannot recommend it more, it really is made with love and you can feel it. The ddeokboki had a complex flavor too which I never experienced before (or knew was possible). Jenny, the receptionist is also always super kind and lovely to talk to. I really love this place!

I want to say this place was great in food, vibes, and coziness. This is a great definition of a mom and pop restaurant.

Firstly the food.
I had the bulgogi bento. The bulgogi looked, smelled, and tasted amazing. It had the normal bulgogi flavor with that nice hit of smokiness almost like wokhay from Chinese cooking. I loved each bite as the smokiness hit my mouth and nose. The sides of the bento was good too, the dumplings were nice and crunchy with a nice but just a tad bit bland filling, tho to be fair the filling is fairly standard for korean dumplings. The kimichi is what I prefer, which is the more freshly made kind. And the rice was cooked as I expected from a Korean restaurant, which is good. The salads were fine again its a salad, but it was nice that they added kale to the salad adding this bit of variety. The salad dressing was sweet and a bit tangy, mostly sweet which I do like since I have a sweet tooth.

The other bento was the shrimp tempura, I did get one of the shrimp tempura and it was good. The crunchy and breading was nice and you had the shrimp flavor that was still there.

Finally the tteokbokki. It was great. The rice cakes were chewy and soft and the fish cakes were soft and not mushy. The flavor of the sauce was great too, it had this nice umami to it and was the perfect level of spicy to enjoy.

The price for the food was also reasonable. Both bento costed roughly $18 each and the tteokbokki costed $12. They also had an interesting line up of drinks that was nice.

All this aside I want to also note how cozy and welcoming it felt. The lady that was serving us was very kind and caring. She even asked about how the addition of kale to the salad was because it was a new addition that they changed because people liked kale. I really liked that attention to detail. The store was medium sized with some odds and ends here and there but that added to the charm of the place.

I went on a Thursday during lunch time and it had a good amount of business via pick up but I was there alone with the person I was with dining in.

Overall as a Korean I think this place hits better then certain places in mind the food was good and the atmosphere was comforting.

I do regret not trying some of the other menu items I guess I have to return for some more.

For the sake of Google reviews I gave everything a 5. My personal score may be closer to a 4.4 which is high for my own personal score

Place has good bento box (bulgogi) and decent kimbap (spicy tuna) but the KFC is weak. Sauce (soy garlic) is pretty good but it is VERY fried with minimal chicken. Would not return personally as I’m looking for more meat in my KFC.

Happy National Chicken Wing Day! July 29. We ordered sweet and spicy wings (mild). Our previous visit we had Soy garlic wings. These were some of the best soy garlic and sweet and spicy around. We also had some Korean Ramyun with mushroom, Bulgogi Kimbap, Spicy Tuna Kimbap and Yuja ice tea. Everything was delicious. A lot of things are made in house. Everything was high quality, fresh and delicious. Come see Jenny and her parents restaurant for a great experience.

This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in New Jersey. Their menu focuses on classic Korean street-food style dishes like fried chicken, kimbap, and tteokbokki. Everything is so delicious that you definitely won’t regret trying their food. It was so good that I honestly wish they’d open a location in my town!

Highly recommend to try out the place. Also the couple who runs the place are super welcoming and nice.

Mama Hen House is highly recommended by one of my customers. This Korean restaurant is top of her mind. I’d been waiting for tasting it for a long time. Finally, my husband & I had a super great dinner at Mama Hen House last week. We ordered Original Kimbap, Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken Wings (mild level) and Bulgogi Bento. I firstly tasted the Kimbap. What an amazing taste at first bite! I tasted very fresh seaweed and tasty pieces of homemade Kimbap. Then, I couldn’t stop eating the homemade fried chicken wings. My husband also enjoyed and loved his Bulgogi Bento. The owners were very warm welcome that made me feel like home. We love your dishes, services, atmosphere and everything. I want to give you 10-star review. See you guys soon! Thank you for making our good day.

I ordered takeout. This was my first time here. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick service I received. Service staff were super helpful. The place gives you a cozy feeling where you can chill out either on a date or with a group of friends. The care and attention to detail even on the takeout orders is definitely a welcoming experience.

I ordered the solo fried chicken (boneless) with the kare sauce and kimchi fried rice. Food was super tasty. Especially the kimchi is a must try. Will be visiting again to explore other menu items
