Last night we pulled into Mama Fla in Idaho Falls and I’m just gonna say it… best accidental decision ever.
We were cruising around trying to figure out dinner, saw the sign, and thought, “Let’s roll.” The second we walked in, we were greeted like long-lost family. The owner sits us down and basically says, “You’re going to love tonight.” Confidence level: 100. And she backed it up.
She starts sharing stories about the homemade family recipes like we just got adopted into the Italian side of the family. I’m already in.
We kicked it off with, Italian sodas and bruschetta — fresh, flavorful, and gone in about 2.5 minutes.
I went with the meaty lasagna with meatballs and good grief… layers on layers of saucy, cheesy greatness. The meatballs? Unreal. Tender, seasoned perfectly, the kind that make you pause mid-bite and just nod your head.
Christy ordered a linguine dish loaded with sauce and bacon and all kinds of ridiculously good stuff — creamy, savory, rich in all the right ways. We were low-key fighting over bites across the table.
And then… cannolis. Crispy shell. Sweet creamy filling. Absolutely dangerous. We probably should’ve ordered two.
The vibe in there is just cool. Cozy. Welcoming. We even got to know the owner and the staff — top class, super genuine people. You can tell this place isn’t just a restaurant, it’s personal.
If you’re in Idaho Falls and want legit Italian food that feels homemade, warm, and next-level delicious… stop searching. Mama Fla is it.

Visiting from Oklahoma, something felt very familiar about this place. It felt very Roma to us after having been last fall. The best part, the food was just as familiar. Terrific bolognese, pesto gnocchi, and just great family atmosphere. It boasts authentic, and that’s what it is!

While vacationing near West Yellowstone, we wanted an Italian lunch experience unlike the usual chain restaurants. During our search for something unique, we discovered Mama Fla, and it exceeded our expectations. At first, the exterior didn’t inspire much confidence, but stepping inside changed everything. We were welcomed warmly, both by the staff and by patrons near the door, setting the stage for an authentic experience. The restaurant’s reputation for excellent service, authentic cuisine, and high quality was immediately apparent. We were promptly seated, and the straightforward menu, focused on genuine Italian flavors and careful presentation, was explained. We soon realized Mama Fla is run by Italian immigrants—a Mother and Daughter team—using ingredients sourced from Italy and family recipes made from scratch. Our meal included appetizers, salads, three entrees, desserts, and quality drinks, all memorable. This is not your typical Italian restaurant; the cost reflects its quality and authenticity. I have included photos of the restaurant and our dishes. I was even invited into the kitchen to meet Mama and thank her for the extraordinary meal. Dining here was not just having lunch—it was a memorable experience that has become a highlight of our vacation.

The most delicious food! And she has frozen food ready to go as well! For dine in, call ahead, the restaurant is not open to just walk in. And, I promise, it is so worth it! You go through the kitchen door and are greeted by and Italian grandma, you’re basically stepping into Italy from Idaho! The food was divine and the owner is very friendly. We bought and cooked her frozen meals at home and it was like eating it fresh! The freshest food! Go there and eat it now!

This restaurant was phenomenal! The warm inviting feeling when you walk in the door just draws you in. Next is the service. Exceptional! There is no printed menu since the food offered varies on the week. They asked us our preferences and then helped curate the meal we wanted! Lastly the food. I will definitely be thinking about this food in the future and will have to travel back for it. Authentic Italian that left us wanting more! We will definitely be back.

We did not just have dinner, we had an experience!!! We have traveled all over Europe and have not had an experience quite like dining with Mama Fla! Very intimate dining room, what we were looking for tonight, no menu, she asked us what we liked and brought us the best Italian food we’ve ever had. Grandma came out and kissed us both on our foreheads. I got ravioli with Alfredo and chicken, my husband got fettuccine with pesto and chicken, both were so amazing! I may have eaten more of the pesto than my dish. We got cream puffs and canolis for dessert. We also got the brucetta as an appetizer, sooo good! You have to try this place. Mama Fla is the best❤️.

Incredible meal last night at Mama Flas!!! We had a blast and everything tasted amazing. It really feels like you’re in your Italian best friends house eating the best food and drinking good wine. Great homemade Italian food. The atmosphere was a little odd, but the food and dessert were definitely tasty and flavorful. The pasta had a bite to it which I do enjoy. Would recommend. Prices seemed fair as well.

Very cute and quaint restaurant. The experience was very Italian and fun, mine and my husband’s pasta were both a bit too salty, and we were charged for water! We were read the menu straight from Mama Fla, so we didn’t know any prices until the bill came. Other than that Mama Fla was very attentive and charming.

My husband and I finally got the chance to try Mama Fla and we were not disappointed! We were greeted by Flaminia immediately and she provided the best customer service and experience we have ever had. We started with a variety of bruschetta which all tasted great. I ordered cheese raviolis with mushroom truffle sauce and grilled chicken- it was incredible, leftovers heated up great too! We finished off with a take home tirramisu and wished we brought home more! We laughed so much during our conversations with Flamninia and learned so much about her and her restaurant in our 1 hour visit, it was unforgettable! Cannot wait to go back and enjoy authentic Italian food, and take her up on her travel tips for when we make a trip to Italy!
