Fat Man Reviews
After passing it many times, curiosity led the Fat Man and his wife to Mama Devechio’s Pizzeria in downtown Stanford, Kentucky, known for its Neapolitan-style, stone-fired pizzas made with local ingredients.
We decided to try a couple of different pies to see what this place had to offer. We started with The Kentuscany. This pizza was made with smoked pork, goat cheese, sweet red onions, and bourbon sorghum reduction. The crust had a great chew, texture, and crunch. There is a great buttery, salty flavor that melts in your mouth. The pork was dry but had good taste and some smoky notes. The red onion adds crunch, while the goat cheese has an incredible salty creaminess that the sorghum reduction mellows out and cuts through with its sweetness.
The next pizza we sampled was a Cheese pizza with pepperoni, beef, and banana peppers. Once again, the crust was phenomenal with a great crunch, buttery flavor, and chew. The cup pepperoni was mild in spice with good beef flavor. The beef had a good, mellow taste, but it was dry and overcooked. The banana peppers add a great acid from the vinegar, but the cheese didn’t have the melty, ooey-gooey stretch that pizza should have, almost like the cheese was out of a bag.
Mama’s also offers a Savor Flight of their sauces or dips. We tried the Marinara, Tuscany Ranch, Calabrian Chili Ceaser, and Pesto. The ranch was very thick, fresh, and dill-forward, with a cooling balance and a hint of salt. This was some of the best homemade ranch that I have ever had. The chili was salty, with a lot of heat on the backend, and the Parmesan cheese added texture. The marinara was thick and chunky, with delicious tomato flavor. The pesto was vibrant green, chunky, fresh, and had great flavor and texture from the pine nuts. However, all of the sauces were served cold. The ranch and Calabrian Chili were fine that way, but the marinara and pesto should have been served warm.
Mama’s features a small menu of pizzas, salads, sandwiches, breadsticks, and desserts, plus a full bar with beer and wine. The Fat Man says that Mama Devechio’s Pizzeria is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

My wife and I decided to eat here on a whim and we were very pleased. The food was delicious; we had Mama D’s pizza and the Fresca pizza and the dessert flight. Service was excellent, as well. We will definitely be returning

Among the many pizza joints around the state of Kentucky I’ve eaten at, I can honestly say this was one of them.
I ordered the Margherita with a side of pizza sauce. The order came out in under 15min.
Uniquely bad.
The fresh mozzarella was bland without a good melt. The sauce had a decent taste of freshly sourced ripe tomatoes but was too thin and watery, causing a soiled appearance.
Don’t come here hungry. These pizzas are small.
The restaurant is presented as just classy enough to make you feel uncomfortable if you’re underdressed. It’s high-priced and low quality.
The waitress was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was meticulously clean.

My daughter and I happened to be in Stanford for an appointment and waited until 5:00 for Mama Devechio’s to open. Definitely worth the wait! The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting and the pizza was delicious. We loved that we could order a flight of sauces to dip our pizza in. Each was unique and a great accompaniment to the pizza. Our server Amanda was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We will make a trip back to Stanford to eat here again!

We arrived on Valentine’s Day hoping to have a quiet dinner. We waited for 15 minutes and were never served. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all. There were maybe five tables filled and no waiting line. There were two waitresses who passed us multiple times and never attempted to offer assistance. Also, the host never attempted to assign us a waiter. I love coming to Standford, KY but this experience was disheartening. I hope that racism and discrimination did not influence the way we were treated. We will never come back to this place again.

A group of 12 celebrated my husband’s birthday last night. The food and service were outstanding. The appetizers were delicious. Salads were fresh and well dressed. Love the kale option. My wife, son and I had dinner here tonight. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night and almost empty. We started with a tomato confit appetizer with some wonderful bread and pesto and it was delicious. Our pizzas were great, high quality, flavorful toppings and good portions. We finished with the tiramisu which had the perfect consistency and sweetness level.
I honestly can’t wait to come back. They had a prix fixe menu that looked interesting that I’d really like to try but today I had to do the pizza and was not disappointed. The wine selection also looked really excellent and well priced
