Reviews
However, my review will go in detail about our experience with the 3rd party BBR org (Bottle Babies Rescue) for cat adoption. So for you people that have high hopes, I wish you luck. Not claiming this would be also your experience but feel free to write your own review.
TIMELINE
-Sep 12 we went here and fell in love with Felix. He CHOSE us and approached us. He climbed on my shoulder on his own and started purring
-Sep 17 We applied on the petstablished website and chose a random cat as none of the adoptable kittens in the Cafe are in the website. They were “on hold” due to something, like eye infection going on
We then visited him 1x a week for the NEXT 6 WEEKS
-Oct 11 they were out of hold and I changed the pet in my original application to Felix
Somewhere in between, we were told that Felix needs another cat so either we adopt 2 or we should already have another cat. NOWHERE on Felix’s paper said he had that requirement. He didn’t have the * on his paper like some cats do which meant you needed to adopt as a pair
We let them know we will be taking ownership of my MIL’s cat soon since she’s in the middle of moving.
-Oct 17 we reapplied completely per Laceys suggestion. Felix was the ONLY one left who was not adopted yet out of the kittens that were out of hold… Clearly at this point, the org lady was just looking/waiting for someone else besides us for some reason
-Oct 18 we were told by Lacey (never heard from the org/adoption agency) that we need to fill out vet info. So we got the cat to the vet to get fully updated on vaccines etc. All results are good no issues. Emailed the info right away.
-Oct 21 I emailed BBR because we’re worried we haven’t heard anything official from them, the ONLY news/updates we get is from the cat cafe.
CHECK PICS and tell me that response was kinda rude and she was annoyed. Also if they were busy why did they take on 9 MORE kittens?? We saw them at the café while Felix is still there
-Oct 30 we heard from cat cafe that Felix has been adopted the day before…. We’re so sad, but kind of expected it.
Our biggest thing is COMMUNICATION sucked so bad on BBR’s end. We NEVER got any news even after Felix was already adopted. Clearly in her email if you check out the pics, she says “if another applicant is approved, you will receive an email alerting you that he has been adopted”. Well that did NOT happen.
I’ve checked daily on the application website, my email etc, and nothing. Just basically ghosted. We don’t care as much if we were not picked. But LET US KNOW and just deny our application or something. At this point we’re going to look for another place and hope the process and experience is way better. We don’t feel comfortable trying for another kitten because we’ll be dealing with the same org lady.
To the Cat Cafe OWNER – – – I would suggest you find a better org to partner with. You seemed really nice when we saw you once and I know the whole adoption decision is out of your hands but the café should have a say I would think on who would be great adopters. Especially when we heard multiple other people did the same thing we did and visit cats they were interested in adopting for weeks. We had a great time with the cats and Felix especially but we spent triple the adoption fee going there weekly…
In the end we’re super heart broken we basically didn’t even have a chance. It was all up to 1 org lady that NEVER met/talked to us. I called the vet multiple times and no one ever called to verify our other cats info or her status, temperament etc. Also very weird she thinks a 6yr old cat is old.
I totally get they are volunteer ran, but she doesn’t get to make that excuse when a) there was like 5+ cats that got adopted besides Felix in 3 days after they were out of hold and b) ok so why take on 9 more kittens when you clearly can’t even handle the load?
Check out their BBB review (see pics). Others had same experience
The cats LOVED playing with the kids. They almost had more fun than the kids. (8, 9, and 10) Almost every cat got involved playing the while time we were there.
My only 2 minor gripes were a lot of the cats had eye infections….. they need to be treated immediately. Other than that they were well groomed and very interactive.
And my other minor gripe is the guy staff working in the cat room kept harping on the kids playing with the cats “dont do that, dont move to fast” etc.. when the cats were really enjoying them and having fun cuz they were playing with them with all the toys. It was nice to see even the fat old cats playing.. I know he was just doing his job, probably just looking out for the cats but it felt like he was more annoyed at the noise with the toys.. so not a deal breaker just a noted mention.. I can see how they would need to keep control over kids being in there it could get dangerous and stressful for the cats! I know some kids might not be as well behaved l, so rules are good! And we respect them.. just relax a little and let the cats and kids have fun IFFFF they aren’t doing anything wrong. =^.^=
Lol we over all had a really nice time. We will def go back.
