The great thing about driving through small towns is finding gems like this. I’ve been through twice now (August and October 2025) and it’s consistently great. Amazing burger with battered fries the first time. Swiss patty melt with onion rings the second time. Friendly server and line cook both times!

Delicious food. The fries were amazing. My wife had the mile high mushroom burger and loved it. I got the barnyard burger and it had a thick chicken breast underneath the patty, with other delicious meats, too. Super filling and very satisfying. Good service and friendly staff.

Traveling through we found this amazing old school dinner. It’s the kind of place you see in classic movies, checker flooring, vinal records on the walls, old school shakes, amazing burgers with your choice of beef, buffalo and chicken. They have full bar for those in need as well as everything you would expect from a mom and pops dinner. Everyone inside was happy, friendly and all knew everyone by the first name. The perfect off the beaten path gem that shouldn’t be passed up, I will go out of my way next time we travel to enjoy this place again. I can’t forget to mention, the BACON!! It is amazing, smokey, greasy lovely goodness. It came hot in my bloody marry and I based my meal on making sure it had bacon, the bacon stuffed tots are a must.

I hadn’t had a good bacon cheeseburger in a while and have been on the hunt for one. I happened to be in Vale to handle some business and decided I’d hit Mal’s and give them a shot. Wow! I had their bacon cheeseburger (Viking), and it was amazing! Hot, juicy, fresh double patties with double cheese on a soft bun with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on it. Very, very, good! Give them a shot if you’re in town. Thanks!

The cook was extremely funny, and the food was delightful. I only had fries but they were terrific. The waitress was very friendly and very helpful. The machines were pretty giving also. Definitely will be back.

This is an amazing place to eat. We stop here all the time on our way from Powell Butte to Boise. Emma is such a kind sweet person and did an amazing job taking pur order. Ruby made out food and it came out perfect. Such a great place for the price!

This place is absolutely ADORABLE. It’s like a little time capsule with both the quality of food, the friendly service and atmosphere! I got the Dave’s Philly with fries while my husband got the Viking Burger with tots. He was pretty impressed that it was not frozen patties. Our waitress was super nice, friendly and just an overall sweet soul. The cook was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our food very much and I’m excited to go back! I would highly recommend going for a great meal, excellent service and a chance to enjoy a part of living history in an absolutely adorable town

Stopped in at Mal’s Diner for breakfast on a weekend. This is a really cool place. The whole restaurant is themed like an old fashioned diner. The service was quick and pleasant. The food was very tasty and hit the spot. Highly recommend stopping for a meal. You will love it as much as we did.
