Tucked into a very niche corner of a small boutique area. Really enjoyed the food here but service was a bit slow on a rather uncrowded night. Granted we were in earlier than what I expect is their peak time. Definitely more of a drinks vibe than dinner too but the tacos were outstanding and the wait staff was friendly and accommodating. Looks like a lively place later at night.

The menu has some good simple options and not too big, they have chilaquiles, tasty barbacoa. I had the churro French toast which was a huge plate and very sweet and delicious. Amber is also a very good and attentive server. I can’t wait to come back to try the other breakfast options.

Malolam is a bright and colorful spot in the Montecillo Apartment area. I went with my friend who had come into town for the weekend. I got the carne asada tacos with the corn and my girlfriend got the Malolam Tacos with the corn.

The main thing I have to say is that the tacos were definitely good, but no way were they worth $6 each. Our server was very confused as well, not giving us a single menu the entire time stating that they didn’t have any and didn’t mention the prices of the tacos he recommended.

I will probably be back again, but I am going to need them to either lower their prices or have way better service next time for my review to change.

Been here many times at night where it is more a bar vibe than restaurant and that is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 with atmosphere. That being said I came today here for dinner and it was so chill I loved it! The food was delicious and clamatos were too. Service Could have been a bit faster but it didn’t matter because they did keep checking in on us to make sure we were not missing anything. Definitely recommend here for lunch/dinner.

I want to like this place. My husband and I will not be returning. We decided to eat dinner and have drinks here two nights in a row. Friday night was exceptional! Thus 3 ⭐️ s! Our waiter was wonderful and on point. The drink shown in my pictures(a paloma) and our mushroom tacos were great. The waiter was very good about explaining the choices of mezcal and what the kitchen had run out of. The price seemed fair. The energy of this place was fun. Then we made the mistake of going again Saturday night. About the same time of day. It was a disaster. The waitress was not good. We are from out of town (still south texas though) and I ordered a michelada. My husband ordered a paloma. He literally was served mezcal and soda water or something like that and I was served a glass 1/4 full of lime juice. And a beer on the side. Then the waitress tried to help us? ‍♀️ She went back and just made his drink stronger and told me I wanted a clamato drink. The tacos my husband ordered were served with o e he did not orderand she was like well the kitchen is out? The manager stopped by and actually was insulting banging my glass down when I told him our meal was going terrible. He said well you don’t know what a michelada is this is a michelada what you wanted was a red beer. And so forth and so on. Hey bud the customer should not be insulted. He did remove the drink price from our bill. I did not eat my food because I was over it. Lots of other great options in El Paso. So 3 ⭐️ s! For Friday -0 stars for Saturday.

The food is phenomenal! I love the fusion concept of incorporating Mexican and Asian cultural Flair’s. The Tacos I had were an excellent Carne Asada with a Thai kick with peanut sauce. The common denominator in both cultures is the Cilantro. The Mexican Fried Rice as the side dish has been cut with delicious Chorizo! The Chicken Chicaronnes hands down the best appetizer on the menu. It was recommended since the pork dish was out. If they can build a parking garage here, I would be coming weekly!

Went during lunch today (cinco de mayo) and it wasn’t busy at all! We loved the atmosphere. Kinda reminded us of a Mexican restaurant on the beach in Mexico that I went to a few years back. LOVED THAT! When you’re there, you don’t feel like you’re in El Paso. I got the Black Forest ham torta with the Mexican Caesar side salad. LOVED IT! The salsa they bring to the table is also amazing, with the house made tortilla chips. Overall, I had a great experience! Staff was super friendly, and even the manager kept checking in on us and making small talk!

The place has the Jekyll and Hyde effect. When it’s good it’s good when it’s off it can get pretty bad. Overall it has a good vibe and Sundays when the bad is out has always been pleasant. Their drinks are decently priced (brunch deals are great) and the staff is generally nice although I have occasionally received attitude over trivial requests like a lime in my beer. Music is wayyy too loud inside. At night the Cantina turns into a club and it can be a lot of fun. The urban location is also a plus. Food is hit or miss. Some days it is fantastic, others (busy days mainly) it comes out a little flat. I recommend, but if they were a little more consistent I think I’d be a regular.
