Have to say this is my first time here and was super impressed right from the start. Svetlana was awesome and gave the best service. Offered me a sample of a beer I was not familiar with and it was perfect. She did an amazing job of serving me, making sure I enjoyed my happy hour food and was super friendly to top it off. I would give Svetlana more than 5 stars if I could and would consider driving from Hopkins to stop by for the excellent service. The Sunday all day happy hour is not to be missed either! In this economy…these things make us want to come out and support local businesses…while not breaking the bank.

I came up from the Chicago area just because I was bored in Illinois. I loved the lobster roll. It was spot on for the same thing from up in Maine. Outstanding! The shrimp and grits were a bit more dense than the southern low country grits but that flavor makes the dish along with the spice on the shrimp. Well done on those too! I really liked the fish and chips because they were crunchy even though I ordered carry out. The coleslaw had a taste of vinegar but that’s kind of what you want on fish and chips. It complimented everything nicely. These are definitely in my top 5 from all the places I have been. I had so much I even shared with my dogs. They give both paws up.

Ive tried but the Inner Grove location, and the Bloomington location and both are spectacular. Our server Lana was very polite and tentative. I splurged for the lobster roll, but there are plates for every budget. Food is spectacular, interior is beautiful, calming and an all around great atmosphere.

Mallards was great. Service was very attentive and appropriate. We had crab cakes for an appetizer they were good. I had the spicy chicken and waffles, the portions were very big. I’ll be going back.

The restaurant itself is nice but unfortunately we did not have a good experience with the food. The walleye bites tasted like pickles and they were extremely salted. The lobster on the lobster roll had literally grains of salt on the top (french fries were good). The lobster bisque had a very watery consistency and was totally bland. Service was not the best either.

Hey I have loved coming here for years but recently you totally have screwed up the jambalaya. Since when are peppers crisp and this was extremely watery like added right before serving. You should return to what made your dish great.

We had the elote happy hours app. So tasty. Then we had the seafood boil. It was very tasty. Shrimp wasn’t over cooked which is great. I will say most boils I’ve had is saucy and served with gloves. Theirs had good flavor but I prefer the saucy ones.

We stopped at Mallards today for lunch to celebrate a special occasion, and we were not disappointed. We ordered crab cakes, elote corn bites (think hush puppies but somehow better), a salad/sandwich combo, and a fish and chips platter, all of which was simply to die for. Our server Josie was friendly and prompt, the atmosphere was light and comfortable, and the overall experience was A+. It’s admittedly not the cheapest dining experience in town but the prices are very fair for what you get. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve stopped in but we will return!

I had the pan seared Walleye tonight, what an excellent meal it was. I highly recommend Mallards Southern Kitchen. Joann is an excellent server, very friendly and attentive without being over bearing.
