Great vibes and a beautiful atmosphere. Overall, the food was very good, though unfortunately they were out of the steak which was the one thing my husband was hoping to order, so that was a bit of a bummer. The oysters were delicious. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, and the pre-meal bread was a unique touch. The duck confit flautas were tasty, though more of a shareable appetizer than a full meal. The gem salad had a strong anchovy-forward dressing that wasn’t quite for me, but the pork chop and chicken were both generously portioned and well prepared. For dessert, the churros were fine, but the ice cream and cajeta were really the stars. The persimmon bread pudding was also a standout and a huge hit. Service was friendly but a bit slow, with our second round of drinks arriving after we had already finished our meal.

So glad we tried this newer restaurant our last night in Palm Springs. Chatted with one of the founders who was working the bar that night and heard the story of this family-started hotel and restaurant group. They brought in so many original recipes and furniture pieces, etc. directly from Mexico and it is unique, exciting Mexican cuisine in an amazing setting. The branzino absolutely mind blowing. !!!! Will definitely come back next time we’re here!

In my professional and experienced opinion, management is the issue here, and perhaps that should be revaluated.

From the very start things got off on the wrong foot. For some reason they did not take us in the entrance of the restaurant and instead led us down some service hallway. We had a reservation for our group, but despite that they did not actually have a table ready or assigned and had us choose where to sit, then put a table together while we stood next to them and watched.

Once seated we were informed that the happy hour that was advertised on their website and was being paired with music that night was not going to start for another hour, despite being clearly listed on all public facing information (we checked it was still listed). Managers threw their servers under the bus and were having them explain to every table that got seated that they had changed the time and that happy hour was not available and no exceptions were going to be made. False advertising, bad communication, and poor treatment of front line service workers. The music started an hour later than advertised and literally as we were walking out after having waited.

But wait, it managed to get a bit worse… Clearly everyone absolutely hates working here, and it shows at all levels. Literally the only place we went to in Palm Springs where the staff clearly hated their jobs with a burning passion that I can only imagine stems from a toxic work environment under terrible leadership.

They heavily stress that their food is intended to be for a family style meal, however the portioning and price point does not reflect this at all. Most of the portioning was either suited for couples (not a family style) or in odd numbers (usually 3) which makes it a bit harder to divide things up for a group if everyone wants to try a dish and order many items to try. Instead you need to order 2 of each dish to get enough for a small group to try, which rapidly makes it so you are only ordering a couple of different things, which isn’t really family style, that’s just sharing a plate with someone else. Then, each plate was more expensive for the portion size than any other restaurant we ate at, including ones that are actually considered fine dining. Why are you charging substantially more, for substantially less, in an environment that barely passes muster? They don’t have family style seating or tables. Everyone is spaced so far apart it’s next to impossible to comfortably have a table wide conversation, let alone share food.

The food and drinks were good, but some of the dishes (such as the enchiladas) were some sort of fusion dish that while contained some of the same ingredients and a generalized concept, was in no way an enchilada and should not have been called such. It was fine, but not special. Tacos were haphazardly sized with one being on street taco sized tacos that were literally so small as to end up buried under the small mound of meat on top so as to require a fork to eat, they tasted like street tacos, but were priced like fine dining…

The atmosphere was non-existent. This is a concrete box with nearly bare walls and some lighting. Everything is some form of gray scale with zero of the culture and expression that the Mexican people have. It’s almost like this space was designed for an entirely different type of restaurant and then this place moved in and decided to just not change anything.

You can walk into almost any other restaurant in Palm Springs and have a better experience that will cost less.

We went to Maleza for dinner in Palm Springs and ohh boy!!! At first, when we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty—which I didn’t mind at all (actually liked it!). Since it was already 7 pm, we thought we might be the only ones there, but within no time the place filled up quickly and was packed—we loved seeing that energy.

We ordered wine, starters, and then dinner, and everything was absolutely delicious. We also finished with a really good dessert to top it all off.

Maleza is definitely a spot we’d recommend!

Maleza is a bigger gem! Drinks, food and service was impressive! A few Margaritas with the Hamachi was exactly the appetizer I’d recommend. Fresh hamachi with a bountiful of flavor with the right heat. I could eat like five helpings! Anthony was our server and he was knowledgeable about the new menu. He was very charismatic with the right eye to come and check in. Milanesa and porkchop for the entree BUT the star was the braised beans! Definitely heading back to this place and going to stay for dessert! The chef here is outstanding!

We are currently enjoying our stay at the Drift Hotel during a girls’ getaway, and the experience has been nothing short of wonderful. While we’ve been delighted by Maleza, the hotel’s standout restaurant, the true highlight of our stay has been Aaron.

Aaron was exceptionally attentive, knowledgeable, and kind—going above and beyond in every interaction. Our group of six was genuinely impressed by his professionalism and the level of care he showed us throughout our five hours at the pool. His presence truly elevated our experience.

I cannot recommend the Drift Hotel highly enough and would absolutely return, thanks in large part to the outstanding service we received.

Walked in, didn’t appear to be super busy on a big weekend in downtown PS. Sat at the bar. Service was a tiny bit slow, but they were so very friendly. Loved sitting at the bar! Near closing time (9), they got very busy though.
The shrimp ceviche was the best i have ever had. OUTSTANDING. The mussels were also delicious. The sauce was a standout!
Drinks were creative and thoughtful. Absolutely well done.

I met up with friends here for drinks and it’s an excellent spot to pregame. A solid outdoor atmosphere and a great place for an adult beverage over a fireplace.

Next time I’ll have their food because the quality in the drink I had was great. I had the guava mama and it was delicious. A good amount of tequila but not too much.

Omg. How happy we are that we found this place. We were walking by and I thought this is a design center! It is so simple, elegant and chic. I think photos don’t do its justice. (Ok this part is for 5 start design. I am an interior designer and it took my breath away)
Service: such a great team. Very calming, suggestive in a very subtle way. Very smoothly glide around to not to disturb the mood and atmosphere of the place. Very kind and knowledgeable.
Food: GREAT FOOD. We got there in happy hour time. Great collection of the drink and food. Very tasteful, different and well balanced. We asked for the main menu as well. Ordered some food from their menu. We LOVED IT. I highly recommend this restaurant. I wished I would have taken some photos from their foods. But, I got so distracted by its taste and design that I didn’t. I need at add something here. I saw a lot of complains about the time of serving on their reviews. I think this is not a fast food. They don’t want you to finish quickly and leave the table for someone else. That counts as a plus not a minus.
