I have been going to this restaurant for almost 20 years. Overall, I find it to be very good. Food is is great with large portions. Service is quick and friendly. It has become our Christmas Day tradition for dinner.

Came here for a Friday night dinner – great experience overall. Sweet tea was decent and all the appetizers and entrees tasted really good, especially the Mee Goreng noodles. My waiter and the other employees were very friendly and welcoming. Service was quick and the entree portions were large.
I strongly recommend this place as far as Malaysian/asian fusion food in the south Charlotte area

My experience with Malaysian food is limited, but my girlfriend’s mom is from Malaysia, and she said it’s very authentic. I can speak for the food quality, which is some of the freshest, most flavorful asian food I’ve had (and I don’t just eat Chinese takeout). The staff were super friendly and service and kitchen were fast! Very large portions as well.

Delicious appetizers, main courses needed seasoning, mixed dessert experience.
We recently revisited Malaya Kitchen Asian Fusion after a long gap since my last visit in 2016. The experience brought back some fond memories, especially with the delightful appetizers. The Roti Kanai and Satay Chicken were absolutely delicious!
For the main course, we ordered the Singapore Noodles with Chicken and Shrimp and the Chef’s Speciality Curry Chicken. Both dishes tasted good but were noticeably under-seasoned. Adding salt (and pepper to the curry) significantly improved the flavors.
We ended our meal with the Fried Ice Cream. While the ice cream itself was tasty, the crust was unfortunately too thick. Overall, the dessert wasn’t particularly memorable.
Despite some of the dishes needing a flavor boost, we had a good experience at Malaya Kitchen. The service was excellent, but the food didn’t quite leave a lasting impression that would make us crave a second visit.

The food was really good and served really hot. The roti was too crispy, it should have been soft, but it could have just been overheated. I recommend the malay roll, it was very tasty. The dessert was good and I would definitely have it again, it looks weird in picture but it’s very satisfying.

The food is good but could be better. Its a little bit toned down spice wise. Typically Malaysian food is a little more spicier. The staff and the overall service was great. The roti chanai, laksa, mee goreng etc could have had a little more flavor..the mongolian beef was very good..we were a large group..they were quick to accommodate us. I didnt see the nasi lemak on the menu….that was a surprise..This place is inside the arboretum. Parking maybe a pain on weekends. Overall 4 is a stretch, they can do much better.

First restaurant visit in Charlotte and the food at Malaya Kitchen was incredible, some of the best egg drop soup I’ve ever had and really delicious Pad Thai. The staff were very kind and helpful with spice levels (ask for extra home made hot oil). Will definitely return to try more dishes on the menu.

I got it to-go & it was hot and fresh. I was actually baffled at how good it tasted. The broth bursted with flavor & the noodles had two different sizes which made the texture fun. I will say they didn’t include any silverware or napkins so be sure to ask or grab it on the way out.

I came in for a late lunch and enjoyed every bite! The owner and server were very nice and accommodating. The flavors were very authentic to Malaysian cuisine I had while I did my study abroad in Singapore.
We started with the Roti Telur and shared the Hainan Chicken and Beef Rendang. The Roti Telur was simple and tasty but the curry sauce that was served with it was awesome. It is thinner than traditional Indian curry but still very flavorful. The Hainan Chicken was delicious and the Hainanese rice was so good. I especially enjoyed the ginger scallion sauce that accompanied the dish. It really brought out the flavors of the chicken. The Beef Rendang was tender and perfectly spicy.
Overall, all the food and service was great and I will be back to enjoy more food soon!
