I walked in and ordered a carryout, I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The salad looked good, they put the grilled (hot) chicken in with the salad on top of the cheese and not on the side and by the time I got home (9min) the cheese was melted like nachos.
The salad was so so, I was disappointed again.

When Malachi first opened it was very hyped, and while the food was good, it closed fast. Now that it has reopened I have eaten there multiple times to see how consistent service really is, and here’s my take.

Each time I ordered the pulled pork platter with buns on the side for a sandwich and meal, along with a salad. The salad was good, interesting take on a hand-made ranch sauce, the only thing I would change would maybe be to upgrade to bowls instead of plates, I feel like its task to mix the sauce into the salad without making a mess on the table. (and I get crippling anxiety at the thought of causing more work for the servers) The pulled pork is generally very good quality, maybe a rare piece of gristle but over all low fat content, I always treat it with the sweet barbecue sauce, only slightly watery but very tasty along with grilled crispy bread. Love the hoecakes, with a little butter they taste wonderful and I could down a whole plate of just them, slightly burnt the first visit, but cooked perfectly the second, although the flavor was great both times. Service is pretty good for the most part, know several locals and I know the workers are great people. I decided to go for broke and try the pecan pie, when it came out it was a little broken apart (accidentally from the server, but don’t sweat it ha ha!) but taste is the most important, I took a bite with a tiny part of me expecting to get a hot bite from paranoia of a microwave, but I was pleasantly surprised to taste a comfortably warm pie, with a wonderful crust and great pie filling.

Along with my parents enjoyment and compliments of their food, this place is a real diamond in the rough, with quality food for much less then expected, it is a wonderful place to eat. The only thing that keeps it from five stars is a few technical things, and minor consistencies, I know I’ll be coming back a lot more in the future!

WE heard about it on the radio and decided to give it a try. The place was wonderful. We ordered the brisket,it melted in your mouth, best we’ve have had anywhere in Kentucky. The baked Potato was just right and huge. The baked beans where to die for and so was the home made dinner rolls. And the lemon cake was delicious. The server and the manager were very friendly and pleasant. We will surely go there every chance we get!!

Pros: clean with friendly staff, pricing is affordable and appropriate, side salads are simple but fresh, generous portions, sides that we had were great (onion rings, creamy slaw and corn bread waffle), the hand breaded fried chicken was juicy and flavorful and the homemade pies are great.

Cons: The pulled pork was very disappointing. Quite frankly it was tougher than my liking and lacked taste both in smoke and seasoning.

In conclusion: A great place to eat for “country cuisine” and desserts (5 stars in that area) but the whole “Smokehouse” experience just wasn’t there.

VERY disappointed. They were out of the two salad dressings on the menu that we wanted. The salad was wilted. They had offered us rolls that ended up they were out of. The baked potatoes appeared to be at least 2 to 3 days old. I ordered my steak pink and repeated at least 3 times-guess they need a color chart. They didn’t have Heinz 57. We did feel sorry for our waitress she kept making excuses how busy they had been. At this point we were the only customers they had- for goodness sake send someone to Kroger across the street for spplies.
They did take a whopping $8 off our bill-so sweet. And one of the things that sticks out in my mind is the manager couldn’t be bothered to come out and talk to us. We had driven 1 hour to get to this place. Needless to say we won’t be back and will never recommend this place to anyone .

Absolutely the best place to find food anywhere in Kentucky! They’re so friendly and the food is delicious and hot when it hits the table. Emily is the best waitress we’ve ever had anywhere. They have a room for events that seats about 20 people. We used it for after a memorial service and they tended to our every need. Kept the orders straight and everything. Delicious and impressive!

Ok BBQ at best. There was only one other table with patrons while we were there and only 1 waitress. I ordered the brisket with potato salad and broccoli casserole, the brisket was very very dry and the potato salad and broccoli casserole were the same temperature (room temperature). My husband ordered the sampler with pulled pork, brisket and ribs. All like mine, very dry and the ribs almost inedible. We ordered rolls with our meal, but never received them the waitress said they were coming but we never saw them nor her again….. the building its self was very clean but this will be our first and last time.

Didn’t taste too well. At all. Beef tips had A LOT of fat. Potato was huge and great. Roll was good. Meat awful. A-1, salt, and pepper didn’t help. Took awhile to get to go drinks, desserts out, and our checks. There were 10 of us though.
