Mala Madre Taqueria – Happy Hour Visit
I stopped into Mala Madre Taqueria for happy hour and was immediately greeted by the staff, which set a welcoming tone. I ordered a happy hour margarita, which was nicely presented and tasted very good.
I originally wanted a birria taco, but since it wasn’t part of the happy hour menu, I opted for an al pastor and a carne asada taco instead. The tacos weren’t anything overly fancy, but they had very good flavor and were a great value for the price.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes on the full menu, though I only sampled the happy hour items this time. Overall, I’d rate Mala Madre Taqueria fairly high for its attention to detail, cleanliness, and the speedy delivery of food. It’s a solid spot to enjoy a quick and satisfying happy hour.

Best fish Tacos I have had in a long time. The Lengua was super tender. Birria was very flavorful and filling. Coming back here during my events. Staffs were amazing.

Wow, a MUST try taco spot! First time here and we tried the pulpo & chorizo, lengua and carne asada tacos and they were AMAZING! Drinks were delicious. Alejandro’s passion for good food and good ambience comes through in Tacos Malamadre in Mineola.

Hands Down the best in Long Island !! Small family owned spot , great Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday Deal . Staff is extremely friendly . I am there at-least once a week. My favorites are the Guacamole (Mild) , Street Corn and Al Pastor Tacos !!

My friend and I wanted to try a New Mexican spot and narrowed it down to 2 locations. We ended up choosing Mala Madre Taqueria based on photos and some reviews. Here how our experience went…
First Impression:
Mildly busy with half the seating available. No wait during our 2 hour stay.
Greeting:
We walked in the door and were a little confused if we’re supposed to sit ourselves or be seated. We headed toward the back of the restaurant toward the bar where we found a waiter.
Seating:
He asked how many we said 2 and he pointed us to a small table. Mr friend and I like to sample the menu so we prefer a bigger table. We asked to be seated at bigger table and the waiter said no he can’t do that (the larger tables remained empty our entire stay). We accepted defeat and sat at the smaller table and were instructed to scan the QR code for the menu.
Drinks:
I Ordered a margarita (kept it simple) and a Pomelo cocktail. The Margarita had a nice balance however my friend did not enjoy her drink. The drinks were the best thing we had that evening
Food:
We placed our order in for an appetizer and entree. We got a vegetarian Burrito, chorizo burrito and Guacamole & Chips (we would’ve got more if we had space on the table). To be honest I would’ve enjoyed chipotle better. For some reason the entree came out before the appetizer and if we didn’t follow up with the waiter we probably would’ve been waiting even longer. The Food Just lacked flavor and disappointingly dry.
Service:
I have to give the service a 1 star. When we walked in the greeting lacked energy almost as if were weren’t welcomed. When we asked for a larger table in the mostly empty restaurant we were not accommodated, which we can understand if they were busy. However, the waiters had a lot of attitude from the start and were not very attentive.
We may try it again but next year.

Lovely cute joint for quick bites . My five star is for the flavor of the food O tasted here. We loved the fish tacos and the chicken burritos. Very good flavor in both. Also the green sauce is yummy . The hibiscus drink is refreshing . The guacamole was good too. They also have vegitarian options. I would recommend this place.

The team wanted to try out a location, so we picked this location. We walked in and the gentlemen that was taking order, working the registered and more had a bad attitude. I understand you might not been expecting a crowd to support the business but we were willing to support and even be patient for you to get your staff together and more. For waiting that long, no water or chips & dip etc. Some of my team left after 30 minutes but what made it worse is trying to make everyone stop a table combine to one bill to make your job easier. All the wrong approach and with that, I would not recommend this location. Food is distasteful with bad service. With good to great service at any location, I would buy a $2 bottle of jarritos for $15.

Absolutely love this place ..we went here first time with group of 7 .. the food was amazing we tried the burritos ommg!!! Speechless it was awesome we never had a taste like that ..the tacos chicken was amazing well cooked & very tasty …also we ordered the quesadillas that was so good …they have so many other options too …the area was small but there was no waiting area …I don’t like the one thing they offer the soft drinks directly from bottle not in glasses with straws or icee …bcz without it it’s too strong !!! Other wise we love ❤️ the food or everything!! Definitely will go back

This was the first restaurant we ate at when we first moved to the area in 2022 and every meal we’ve had since has been fantastic. Simple, delicious, freshly prepared. We come here all the time and every time it’s excellent! Also I love how they give you an option of salt or tajin for the marg.

We sat at the bar to see the array of tequila they had in stock. Seating was available at standard tables and high top tables. The food was outstanding! It was hot, fresh, and served fast. The service was good as well, but we sat at the bar, so I’m not sure about table service. 2 large screen televisions, 1 playing news and the other playing the car show. Great vibe. Happy hour from 3 to 6pm. My tamarind margaritas was the bomb dot com. Will visit again
