Arrived at 4 pm on a Saturday and was seated immediately in the booth I had reserved. The place was mostly empty. Not exactly the romantic atmosphere I was hoping for, but it worked. I started with an aperol spritz. It was very good. There was some confusion on my second drink, but they made it right. We ordered Greek salads, Beef Wellington, and a Porterhouse steak. The salads were large and flavorful, and the meats were tender and of good portion. I only wish the meats came with garlic/gorgonzola butter or a mushroom gravy, as they were basically flavorless. All in all, for the price being charged, I’m not likely to return.

We had a group of 8, it was our first time at this restaurant. I ordered the shrimp linguine and the cheesy bread, it was delicious, I couldn’t finish it all, so my husband did. He ordered a double burger and he said it was juicy and flavorful, the fries were perfect, nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was excellent. Love the restaurants vibe, it’s old-style gangsta with a modern twist. We definitely recommend.

We visited Makse for the first time and we were very pleased! The atmosphere is a mix of fine dining and a cozy Holiday feel! Very friendly and welcoming service from the servers, bartender, Chef and the Owner! The best Smoked Cherry Old Fashion I’ve had in a few years actually!!! They have a great menu to choose from as well. We had a seafood meal and a steak meal which we both enjoyed! We plan to return and experience the Speakeasy soon!!! Thank you so much Makse!!!

What a great date night! We had been here once before just for appetizers. So glad we came back for the full dinner experience. Our waiter Jay was great and the chef Anner (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) took the time to come and chat for a minute. We will def be back.

I was very impressed with Makse and sad to see the not-so-good reviews. We didn’t have any wait on a early Saturday evening. Our server was super friendly & on point. The food did take a little longer than expected but it was worth it! The filet mignon was delicious! I do think they should serve some bread during the wait. It would help people not focus too much on the time. They are a little on the pricier side but the food quality makes up for it. One thing I didn’t like was how loud the radio music was. It was a little distracting for sure. Regardless, I was very happy overall & definitely will be coming back!

The service awesome and quick the food was absolutely delicious. I had the beef wellington and my friend had rib eye with mashed potatoes. I rarely write restaurant reviews, but after my second bad experience at Makse Restaurant in Vacaville, CA, I feel compelled to share. This last visit was truly disappointing and, honestly, unacceptable.
I ordered a tomahawk steak, expecting a meal worth the $125 price tag. When the waitress brought the steak to our table, I immediately noticed a strong, unpleasant stench. At first, we weren’t sure where the smell was coming from, so we checked everything on the plate. Unfortunately, the source was the steak itself.
Despite our concerns, we tried a small bite, hoping it was just our imagination. The taste was just as bad as the smell—I almost vomited. It’s hard to believe a restaurant would serve spoiled meat, especially at this price point.
This was my second negative experience here, and I cannot, will not recommend this low quality, empty environment of a restaurant to anyone. For the price and what you expect from a steakhouse, quality and food safety should be a given. Sadly, that was not the case on either of my visits.
Save your money and your stomach—go somewhere else. Next step will be to file a food-safety complaint with Solano County Environmental Health Division. This should not happen to anyone; someone could have loss their life!
