Maken Zi is hands down one of the best ramen spots in Worcester. The food was incredible—rich, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and toppings that actually felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell they care about quality and presentation, not just speed.

What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Our server, Jay, was amazing. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Her energy honestly made the meal even better.

Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend asking for Jay if you go!

Five star review for sure! It was our first time going here and it was amazing. Great service, great food and fast. They heard we had driven an hour from home to enjoy their ramen and rice bowl and even offered us a free beverage to go! We had the Miso Ramen with shrimp tempura, chicken teriyaki bowl with soft boiled egg and for drinks we had matcha iced green tea latte and Thai iced tea! All highly recommend.

If you’re looking for a top-tier ramen spot in Worcester, Maken Zi is an absolute must-visit. The broth is rich and packed with flavor, the noodles have that perfect “snap,” and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant. It’s easily one of the best spots in the city for a solid bowl of ramen.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. A huge shoutout to our server, Jay! She was fantastic—super attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Excellent food paired with great service is a rare find, but Jay and the team at Maken Zi nailed it.

I’m not sure if there are new owners and employees but it does seem to be different. They forgot to turn on their open sign, were a bit confused about the order but they were able to fix it, and not as much hospitality as before. We haven’t been here in a few months so we’re not sure when the change happened. But today the food was okay, my brother loved his pork chashu tonkotsu ramen, I had the beef Thai boat noodle (not spicy even though it should be, a bit too salty), and my fiancé liked his Japanese curry. Today left me wondering what has changed.

Ate here last night with my sister and my girlfriend and we all enjoyed our meals. My girlfriend got spicy miso, I got boat noodle soup with beef, and my sister got braised beef soup I believe. All had robust flavors. I also ordered the lavendar milk tea which was decadent and to die for. We had dessert after too the strawberry creme cake and fried ice-cream all very good. Overall an exceptional experience. Now another favorite ramen place in Massachusetts. One thing to say though the boat noodle soup had two chili peppers next to it on the menu and was not spicy at all. If you’re a spice fanatic like me definitely don’t get it if you’re trying to chase a spice kick that day. But regardless my meal was absolutely delicious.

The food was fantastic. I had the miso ramen which was delicious. The atmosphere was exactly fitting for a place like this. Nothing special but I’m giving it five stars because there was nothing wrong with it at all. Extremely pleasant staff, and my Thai iced tea was fantastic.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. We waited 2 HOURS for ramen. When it finally arrived, the broth was lukewarm, not hot, and the bowls were served at different times. My daughters’ food didn’t come out until 20 minutes after everyone else.
Being busy is not an excuse for this level of incompetence. We had to ask for refills because of the excessive wait.
This was our third visit, thinking maybe the previous times were flukes. They weren’t. This place has gone completely downhill, and this will 100% be our last time here. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the spicy tonkotsu ramen (creamy bone broth, with sliced bamboo, earwood mushroom, sweet corn, seaweed, scallion and soft-boiled egg) with chili oil, and garnished with finely shredded red chili pepper. For drinks, I ordered the thai iced tea and for appetizer the Maken Zi seafood platter (shrimp tempura, takoyaki, japanese fried oysters, squid karaage, kibinago fry). If you prefer a non-spicy broth, I recommend the tonkatsu ramen. The broth was rich and creamy, very delicious!
