Delicious & Refreshing Treat at Makani’s Magic Pineapple Shack!
I stopped by Makani’s Magic Pineapple Shack in Hilo and tried the Aloha Acai Bowl — and wow, it was absolutely worth it! The bowl was beautifully presented and packed with fresh, tropical fruit that tasted vibrant and refreshing. The acai base was smooth and creamy, with just the right balance of sweetness to make it feel like a perfect island treat. I loved how generous the portion was — felt like a healthy yet satisfying snack.
The atmosphere at the shack is fun and cheerful, with a cool local vibe that makes it a great spot to unwind after exploring downtown Hilo. The staff were friendly, and even though it gets busy, the wait was totally worth it for such a flavorful bowl.
Highly recommend this place for anyone craving a refreshing, fruity bite while visiting the Big Island!

The soft serve here is amazing! Would definitely recommend getting the unicorn which contains both Ube and dragonfruit soft serve with some sprinkles. We went here twice during our trip to Hilo – the first time we got just Ube and second time the unicorn soft serve which we loved! The flavors go well together

If you are looking for a new ice cream spot in Hilo, this is it! The ube soft serve is ono! Parking was easy to access when we went, and the ladies were work so patient while we ordered.

I read about this place recommended a lot so we decided to visit in the afternoon for refreshments. We got the acai bowl and magic smoothie. Both the items were delicious and mildly sweetened. The fruits were fresh and the smoothie tasted natural. It was a good spot – full of people from all age groups, bustling with cheer on a sunny day.

We ordered the dragonfruit soft serve in a pineapple with fruit as a topping and it completely lived up to the hype!
This thing came out huge and was so delicious & refreshing.
The staff was friendly and the line was long, but worth the wait. There are several seating options inside and out front.

Even if you are not around this area, definitely worth it to drive there to enjoy their menu. Portion was great and price was fair. I am back to my country,,,,
oh I miss that soft serve acai bowl so much. Can’t find anywhere else.

OMG. Their window says, “The bigger the better the smoothie” and they don’t mess around. I bought a large cookie monster acai “bowl” and did my best to eat the whole delicious thing, but failed. It’s full when they add sliced strawberries, cookie dough, a heavy drizzle of sweet peanut butter sauce and of Nutella. Oh sweet deliciousness.
