This review may be a bit misleading, but it’s specifically for their new halal cart night options. The chicken over rice is a solid meal, good value and good quality chicken. The sauces could be better and the rice tastes more Mexican than anything but I didn’t mind much. We went right when they opened and it took a long time

I had a roast beef sandwich, There’s was tons of beef and it had a good flavor. The pickle was really good, the highlight. The chips were almost out dated and seemed a little stale. They have a good selection of specialty sodas

After a recommendation from my aunt who is a proud U of M alum, I finally made my first visit to Maize and Blue. There are a lot of options on the menu, but the staff were helpful and quickly pointed out their suggestions. I ordered their best seller, the Sherry’s Chicken Cutlet which is served with hot honey and makes a great pairing. So, it’s easy to see why this is their most popular sandwich. This was my second trip to Michigan in recent months, and my only regret is not stopping by during my first time out here.

I’ve been so excited to try this place we finally did because it was absolutely outstanding! It was a hard decision on what to choose but I couldn’t pass up the chance for a good Ruban. Let me tell you it was not good it was fantastic! Others at my table ordered Maze and Blue wrap which was also wonderful. One new addition to the menu is their chicken tenders and fries and as everything else those were also some of the best we’ve ever had! I can’t wait to go back!

I stumbled upon Maize & Blue Deli on South University and was absolutely blown away! The sandwich menu is massive, but it’s well‑organized and full of creative options—from classic Reubens to the hearty “Where’s Bo.” Everything we ordered was generously portioned and packed with fresh, flavorful fillings. I particularly loved their pastrami and corned beef sandwiches—some of the best I’ve had anywhere.
The staff was warm and attentive, and the cozy space, adorned with Michigan memorabilia, gave the whole place a welcoming, family‑run feel.
We grabbed fries too, which came in huge servings—pro tip: split a side if you’d like to save room for dessert!
Highly recommend—100% worth it if you’re in Ann Arbor or heading to a game nearby!

Ok. I’ll admit my bias upfront. I’ve been a fan of U of M since I was 12 yrs old. To find myself in The Holy Land, eating at a place named after the school’s colors (on a beautiful sunny day no less), might, just maybe, have influenced my thinking. Now you know. And I was wearing a Michigan shirt at the time.
I was actually directed to the place by a sorority girl I gave a ride to. Thank you, Rachel!
The woman behind the counter seemed bored, her interactions with myself & others seemed forced.
There is outside seating but I stayed inside where it was very quiet. A TV in the corner, with ESPN on, was easily listened to 10 ft. away.
The menu is massive! My #8 was fabulous though it took a bit longer to get than I expected. But it was worth the wait.
I can definitely see coming back should the forces of nature deem it good. Assuming I can find parking.

I had #22 sandwich with an order of fries (did not expect to receive an entire tray), Fanta & one of the best chocolate cookies I’ve ever had. I definitely recommend to stop by if you get a chance. The sandwich is packed so you will not go hungry. I also suggest to split fries if you happen to order some. The workers were really nice and very quick coming out with the food.

Took my son who is a UM student here since I loved it when I was in school here in the early 90s. It is still fantastic food and very budget friendly. Tons of meat on both our sandwiches and fresh bread.

Very first experience, and it did not disappoint! Everyone was so nice and the sandwiches were amazing! You name it, they have it. They also have gluten-free options. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants good quality food that’s made to order!
