Decor is a bit outdated but that doesn’t matter if the food is good right? Well the food here is terrible.
Got a lamb curry and it had absolutely no flavour despite being packed with vegetables and meat. Probably made in a huge batch and reheated for a week or something. The ingredients also didnt feel very fresh. Potatoes tasted a bit old; definitely not how a potato should. I probably should have just discarded the entire thing but this lunch special was almost 18 dollars after taxes!
Meal overall was also extremely greasy with each grain of rice practically lubricated with oil to an almost soup like consistency and the curry was way too salty in effort to make up for lack of flavour from spices.
The only redeeming thing was whatever thing they gave in a cup but that had a slice of lemon doing the heavy lifting on flavour.
Overall, there are much better options for food in the area for fresh and flavourful food. I’ve eaten at just about every restaurant in this area and this was the only place that didn’t have food that delivered on the quality and freshness that I’ve come to expect from this neighborhood.
Highly overpriced. The cutlery was dirty too.
Will not recommend this place to anyone.
Also the guy who attends customers seems to be from Bangladesh. They’re just spoiling the name of Indian food.
Food wise, their curries are on the mellow spicy side yet quite well layered with taste, generous in meat and quite thick/rich in sauce which is great. Nan was thick, fluffy and crisp, Rice was perfectly cooked with great aroma. Samosas also nicely crispy.
The blonde (Taj Mahal) and brown (Cobra) beers served there were surprisingly refreshing and good pairings with the meal.
The restaurant vibe itself could probably use better lighting to account for the lack of windows and also to help us appreciate the food better. Chairs felt a little old but I’m fine with the tables. Lets just say “it works”.
This place gets 5 stars since the price and quality of food was great and I’ll be returning to this spot when craving for indian food in the area.
