It’s as New England as they come. My husband fell in love with the blueberry pie and couldn’t wait to get back for some more. This year we stayed in Wells for a few days and ate at the diner twice. The seafood dishes were great. My husband said WOW after every bite of the famous seafood chowder. Sadly, we live in Arkansas now where you can’t get fried New England seafood or Indian pudding. The staff was friendly and the service was spot on.

I remember the lobster pie that I tried here when I first visited Maine 12 years ago and one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. We had to stop here with our kids to have them try it as well, this time around tho the whole experience was a bit disappointing: the lobster was really chewy. My crab cake sandwich was pretty bland, I didn’t really taste the crab at all. I also didn’t love the “world famous” seafood chowder, but my dining partner did! I thought it was bland and not thick enough, I should have went with the clam chowder instead! Glad we stopped here to eat but wouldn’t necessarily make it a must stop again. Service was good. Plenty of parking in the adjacent parking lot.

I’ve been here several times now and it’s always delicious! Obsessed with the corn muffins and whipped butter too. And amazing diner coffee!

We visited The Maine Diner twice during our week visiting the area for Christmas Prelude. Between the two of us we sampled the omelets, chicken pot pie (homemade and so good), a classic BLT, fried clams (best around – hands down) and the clam chowder. The staff at this restaurant are friendly and care about providing excellent service. It’s a DDD location and worth a visit (or two)!

Typical coastal diner specializing in seafood. The lobster rolls and sandwiches are a classic that should be tried at least. The lobster was good but cones in a pretty sweet hotdog roll which doesn’t really do the dish justice. But that seems to be typical way it’s eaten.
The seafood specialty platter comes with fried prawns, haddock and scallops which are succulent, fresh and tasty. The desserts are also good with a special mention to the carrot cake which was sublime. Good service.

4.19.25 Our 1st time in this area. It’s off-season, so lots of parking, no wait, food came out quickly. The service was great because the coffee came fast, and our waitress was friendly and came back to check on us. Everything tasted good. The home fries could have been hotter (temperature-wise). But everything else was good. The vibe is what you’d expect in an old diner. Good stop.

Maine Diner – A Sweet Return
I hadn’t been to the Maine Diner in a long time, so I was excited to be back in the area and able to stop in for a quick dessert and coffee. I started my visit in the gift shop, where both ladies working were absolutely lovely and welcoming. I picked up a couple of gifts before heading over to the diner side.
I originally planned on ordering pie, but then I spotted the Indian pudding on the menu; something my mom used to make. So I couldn’t resist trying their version. I ordered it warm with vanilla ice cream on top, and it was such a comforting, nostalgic treat. And it was very affordable for the serving size!
I also love the diner’s old-fashioned setup, with the classic counter seating and swivel stools. (They have booths and tables, as well). The waitress was very friendly, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. It was really nice to return to a local spot I hadn’t visited in a while. It felt familiar, cozy, and comforting.

Very good diner food. We arrived a little after 11Am on Valentines day which was a Saturday. The minute we walked in the door we were greeted and they quickly found us a table. Our waitress was nice as well. We both got a breakfast meal and it was very good. We checked out the gift shop next door and it was a nice shop.
