This a charming place that has quite a diverse menu with some of the best potato pancakes that I have ever tasted. Everyone in our table of 6 had something different and we all agreed it was one tasty meal with no room for dessert. So if you find yourself in West Bend check out this quaint little place for a satisfying meal.

The food is very good and you get a nice portion size. The service is OK but could be a little faster especially with coffee refills. BUT! Watch what you are charged on your bill compaired to the prices on the manu. I questioned why the price for my menu item was greater than the menu price, I was told “That is the price if you use a credit card”. They already charge 3.5% for credit card use and then they jack up the price of the food item. Buyer Beware!!

We went here for brunch. Not too busy. Nice medium-sized diner with interesting decor. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

I like that the food ia NOT overly salty. Thank you, chef!!

I really like the fact that they had hot sauce on the tables!!

Great Breakfast experience. Wait staff was all dressed for Christmas and in a Merry frame of mind. Excellent meal with ample portions. Large breakfast menu with unique items . Stop in and try something new , you won’t be disappointed.

Average breakfast. Sausage links were bland, country omelet didn’t have much cheese. Homemade rye toast for an upcharge, looked like store bought. Great coffee and Service was A+

I came for a fish fry. I started with a Whiskey Old Fashioned sweet. Thought the server forgot what I asked for she didn’t write it down and was doing other things before she got to the bar. I heard her request to the bar, she got it right. It was a nice refreshing whiskey old fashioned with a big slice of orange on the rim.

I ordered onion rings for appetizer, crispy and hot. The salad was a big iceberg lettuce salad with big slices of cucumber and tomato. I had to cut it down to bite size.

The fish fry was a plate loaded with 3 big pieces of deep fried cod, french fries and slices of rye bread. Came with a bowl of coleslaw. I had so much to eat, couldn’t even get to the rye bread or coleslaw.

The fish pieces were big and had a light crispy mildly seasoning batter. Very pleasing.

Service was great, atmosphere was great

My first visit…
I stopped in about 5 pm. It wasn’t busy. You can sit your self. I ordered a Modelo Negra, received it with a slice of lime on the rim.

There’s a huge menu, lots of options, Mexican, Italian, breakfast, lite, hamburgers, fish fry etc.

I had the #2 Combo: Enchilada, Tostada and Flauta, flour tortillas and pork. Came with refried beans and rice. The tortilla was loaded. Tortilla tasted home made. Came with salsa and sour cream on the side. Wasn’t too spicy. Tasted home made, home cooked. Huge portions. Everything tasted good.

For dessert I had a slice of apple pie and a scoop of ice cream.

The server kept checking on me. Every helpful when I needed water, more napkins and getting my dessert the way I wanted it.

Watch out for the salsa that comes with the chips, it started out mild, then hit me later. I needed tissues for my eyes and nose.

I was excited to try Main Street Cafe as I am new to West Bend and loved their menu.

I had a cup of Chicken Dumpling soup which had good flavor, but was mostly broth. I would get it again though.

I then had Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. I was most disappointed in the meatloaf, it was dry, hard, and difficult to cut. It was smothered in gravy, which was good as were the mashed potatoes. The green beans were overcooked and mushy.

I will give MSC another try, but will be more skeptical.

The food itself was very good and inexpensive the service was decent its a pretty good value it just lacks some of the nice touches like good pancake syrup cheap imitation maple syrup doesn’t cut it on pancakes or French toast it makes really good fluffy pancakes or nice thick French toast disapointing. The prices are cheap enough I’d rather pay a little more for quality
