They have the loose meat sandwiches. Surprisingly, they were really good. Nothing fancy but just a good little sandwich. Wish the fries were a little more seasoned or maybe had season salt out where customers had the option to use it if they choose to. Need more drink options. We would come back.

We came here and we were welcomed nicely by the owner. I ordered the sandwiches and fries and a drink. If I was in the area again, I would come here and order an extra sandwich and skip the fries. The drink came in a real glass/mug and the atmosphere felt very historic and it was worth the visit. Several in other reviews said that this place is pricy but I didn’t think they were out of line compared to what they charge now at other fast food establishments.

If you want history this is your place. If you want food this is not your place. A maidrite sandwich has maybe a teaspoon of meat and a pickle. Sad because it used to be such a good place when Clarence had it. When you opened the sandwich I thought it was an empty bun.

Down the street from me, the owner told me it is a historical landmark (first drive-thru in the US!). I got the special (2 sandwiches, fries, and a drink), sandwiches were smaller then I expected. The Maid-Rite sandwiches were tasty and fresh, along with fries being crispy. For the price I paid in terms of quantity, compared to what I could get for the price (~$8) elsewhere, unfortunately I have to knock off a star (a half star would be more appropriate in my opinion).

My family and I used to eat at maid rite in Peru Illinois weekly. I was happy to see a maid rite when I had recently visited Springfield. The sandwich was cheap but was very small and the meat tasted like the meat from canned chili…it was horrible. I do not recommend this place if you want a good tasting maid-rite sandwich!! I gave them a one star because their fries were decent, they cost more than the sandwich if I remember correctly. If not they were close to the same price. They have rc products, which is fine but it was close to flat tasting as well
